This is my 3rd-grade daughter’s first year at a brick and mortar school, after her online school closed.

We love it. She loves going to school and her teacher (Ms. Waier) is amazing.

But the thing that really impressed me wasn’t what they got right, but how they handled something they got wrong.

She came home with a progress report one day, informing me that she had a D in math. When I looked through the report, I realized that a disproportionate amount of weight was placed on timed quizzes, to the point that it dropped my daughter’s overall grade significantly, despite the fact that she had solid grades on literally every other homework/classwork assignment, review, and test.

I emailed the teacher, who immediately forwarded my email to one of the admins and told me she would also discuss it with him in person, as well. He responded that same afternoon. He acknowledged that yes, it was a disproportionate amount of weight, and he assured me the problem would be fixed.

And that was such a relief, honestly. I don’t expect any school to be perfect, and I was so relieved to see that concerns and problems are taken seriously, both by teachers and admins, and that the school will take action to fix any issues that may arise.

I mean, yes, they get a lot right, and that’s a big part of the reason I love the school. But seeing how they handle a potential mistake or oversight is what really makes me comfortable entrusting my child’s education to them.

Our 2nd and 3rd graders started at this school last year at the middle of the school year. We were very happy to be part of this amazing school. Our children didn’t take them that much time to adjust to their new school. I love how everyone is helpful and welcoming to new families. The teachers are all great and very involved with all school activities. The school principal and all the staff members are super nice and fun to be around. I have nothing but great things to say about this school.
My daughter has attended Pinecrest from kindergarten through 3rd grade now and I believe it has been the best school of our choice for her! She is happy everyday, has great friendships, dedicated teachers, caring staff, focused, compassionate administration and she has a never ending drive to learn that seems to grow more each year! I can’t wait to see what Pinecrest’s tools and opportunities combined with our support at home will mold her into as a successful little adult-ready for college.
