There are many things wrong with this school. Frankly, I’m not even sure they deserve the 2 star but I will say as far as education is concerned my daughter definitely learned a lot this year, which is the only reason I am giving the 2 stars. The curriculum is intense but I do like the education my daughter has received.

I will say that another poster mentioned the administration, specifically Ms. Chela and the principal- truth be told I only ever saw the principal once and it was on the first day of school – I did walk up line because the drive up line was out of control. I walked past the principal and expected a welcome greeting when I said hello but she just ignored me stared intently at everyone passing in. Not smiling, just staring. And Ms. Chela is also very loud and does not really deal well with the parents. I understand that they have a difficult job but there is a way to handle things and screaming the way she does is not it. I Also agree that the music the school played was extremely unnecessary and LOUD. Like, who is that for? It’s too early to be playing that music for no reason other than it’s a Friday. I think they stopped finally.

Something that has really bothered me is that they assign numbers to the kids and somehow, even with all their safety measures, my daughter was mistaken for another child and was put on a one of those vans that transport kids and was about to be taken to someone else’s house, had I not shown up when I did. who knows where my daughter would have ended up since she’s 5 and does not know our address.

My daughters teacher has been extremely difficult and has made this year completely awful for my daughter. Everyday she comes home upset because the teacher has yelled at her or embarrassed her. I’ve brought this up several times to the teacher and she has only responded with snarky combative responses. My daughter attended a zoom class for the first week in January and the way the teacher spoke to these kids it was as if she thinks they are teenagers. If you enroll in this school and your child gets Ms. Fernandez for kindergarten, beware. She does not care about your child’s mental health, and very rarely will she have anything positive to say. The only time she was ever happy was when she was asking us to have our kids do a bunch of extra lessons to reach a challenge because she got a gift card if her class won. This school is all about money it seems…

They send so many messages often containing the same unnecessary information, and it’s very annoying. At the same time they also wait until the last minute to notify you of important dates or upcoming events. It was also so difficult to join any clubs because they have limited capacity and fill up within the first week.

I don’t feel connected with the school at all. It does not have that kind of welcoming vibe. Overall I think I’m being generous with my 2 stars. I doubt we will be enrolling again for next year.

I would absolutely not recommend this school. They do not care about the kids at all, especially the administration department. They send a lot of online homework; however, they would not let your kids take a computer to the school to do it in after care or do it in the computer lab where it was supposed to be done at least one day a week. The written portion was also not done at after school most of the time. Many, many times talked to the teachers about it, since my kids have extracurricular activities, it was difficult and not fair for them to do HW after 8pm, nothing was done, they just simply don’t care. Do not bother to send an email to the principal, Mrs. Clemente doesn’t care, she would not reply, even though the concerns about your kid’s physiological, emotional, and mental wellbeing were caused by an employee of the school. There are so many things wrong with this school, the orientation process for new students/parents it was nonexistence for me, they didn’t care to send me an email, they didn’t care to explain how the pick-up process was, where do you sign up for the kids online learning, I mean, I just had to make a lot of questions and figure it out myself. The person who welcomes student in the morning, Ms. Chela is very rude, disrespectful, loud, and not properly train to deal with elementary kids. My experience with Pinecrest South Academy was not good at all, listening to your kid telling you about every day in the morning they don’t want to go to the school was heartbreaking, especially when you know your kid has always loved and enjoyed going to the school. Hopefully, this review would help someone in the future to not make the same mistake.
My kids have been attending this school for 2 yrs now. I have talk to many , many parents in Kinder – 1st grade and EVERY SINGLE PARENT THAT I HAVE TALKED TO IS NOT HAPPY with the school. We all have the same complaint. Classes have over 25 kids , therefore teachers are overwhelmed. Teacher go over the material fast without making sure kids understand the lesson ; hence parents need to TEACH the material at home ( this is absolutely necessary or your child will fail) PLUS complete homework. Teachers have bad communication with parents — they will not provide any feedback regarding your kids progress, grades etc. This is just in kinder and 1st grade I cannot imagine what it could be on a higher level.
ALSO, NO parking spaces, very frustrating. Other parents disrespecting traffic rules, the school not doing anything about it.. Overall I am very disappointed and changing schools for this next year.
