The school year is almost over and we’ve recommitted with the school because we’ve had such a great experience. My daughter hasn’t had any problems with the school or students. The staff is very professional and in return I try to volunteer as much as I can. Largo police station is not too far away, there is always an officer during school hours, and cameras throughout the school campus so I feel relieved to know my daughter is safe. Another great thing is the students get P.E. once a week but recess everyday which I think is equally important to their education. They also have specials everyday- computer lab, art, P.E., Spanish, etc. The school does not tolerate misbehaved children, but they will do everything they can to accommodate the student (move them to a different classroom) to keep them in the school. Lastly, there is a lot of homework/classwork so it’s really important to be actively involved otherwise it’s very easy to fall behind.
After being in education for nearly 20 years, this was one of the poorest run schools I’ve worked for. While there are wonderful teachers at this school, they are micro-managed by the owners of the charter school and it’s administration. Those teachers who attempt to teach out of the box to reach ALL students in their class, are targeted as the ones who aren’t “invited” back at the end of the year… Regardless of a satisfactory observation.
They fired a wonderful AP with years of experience in the classroom both at the charter school & in Pinellas County Schools, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership only to replace her with a “robot” that had a 2 years experience as teacher, minus a Master’s in Leadership.
The morale of the school’s staff is affected by the lack of leadership’s professionalism, which affects the students’ education.
I am a student from Pams and I have been since kindergarten( I’m in 8th now) The school is horrible I would not recommend bringing your child here. They have zero tolerance about bullying here . And some how they still let kids say whatever they want. The school lunch that they serve is questionable and I hate eating it. Admin will make your child feel miserable if they do a small mistake. There is only a couple teachers that are okay in this school but I would rather not bring your son, daughter, grandson, and granddaughter here. Also the school will do anything to get money here. So I suggest GETTING as far away as possible from this school
