I have been a student at Gulf Coast for about 3 years, and I can say with complete certainty there are no schools quite like this one. The teachers are amazing; they are all very accepting, friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about the student’s well-being and success. Both teachers and staff are absolutely phenomenal, and will be more than happy to work through problems for students. The school is very small, so students get the help and 1-on-1 time needed to understand and excel. There are also 2 school sessions, so students with jobs can still make it to school. Plus, due to how the classwork is handled, it’s an ideal school for students struggling with health issues as all online. Along with being almost all online, most of the work can be done at home and the courses are work at your own pace. As mentioned, staff are more than capable of working with students and doing what’s best for the individual. I, personally, struggled with my health and this school and the wonderful faculty have been so understanding and good with me when I was unable to make it. If you are struggling to make it to school, have a failing GPA, desire a calm + small scale setting, have health issues, or even have children… This school is most definitely worth looking into.
If you ever decide to go back to a regular school because this alternative school is not what you expected, NONE of the classes andor work you have done here counts! The lunch they provide is the left over lunch from Largo High School. LEFT OVERS so you might get milk you might not. You dont choose, you eat what Largo H.S kids didn’t want to eat!!!! The kids are always hungry and constantly have to call home to see if someone can bring them food. ( Not just my kid every time I showed up for whatever reason there was a kids at the front desk’s phone calling home for food) There is a lot of teacher who discriminated against minority as well. On a good note: The office staff is pretty good.
THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL SCHOOL IVE EVER BEEN TO THERE IS ONLY ONE BATHROOM STALL FOR EACH GENDER THEY DONT WAIT FOR LATE BUS’S TO HOLD BREAKFAST AND THERES NO KITCHEN NO LUNCH ROOM JUST A GYM AND (sometimes) DEFROSTED ROOM TEMP FOOD but there’s sm more!! I do the online schooling program of the school thinking itd be better I am now wishing I could be surprised saying it is not I am now falling classes I’ve have been specifically instructed not to work on the lack of communication between student teacher and counselors is abstract I as a student have over heard teachers gossiping over information personal to me and so many other occurrences I can’t even list
