I went here from 4th to 5th grade which was many years ago so what I say may not be the most accurate, but from memory I can remember I had a lot of fun times here and made some friends I still talk to, but the work often felt WAY too easy and I specifically remember being a 5th grader who kept getting work labeled for 4th graders, I think the Montessori learning style works for really young kids, but not necessarily people in 3rd grade or above. There also seemed to be almost NO discipline for any kids, like you could get away with practically anything and teachers rarely if ever stepped in to stop bullying or fights. Also, the building is OLD which may be nice to some, however the building wasn’t being maintained the greatest at the time (2013-2015), I remember a lot of the water fountains were rusty so I’m hoping that has been fixed. I must stress that this information is all around 7-9 years old, so please do not make a full judgement based on my review alone. If the discipline problem has been solved and the work is at an appropriate level for their grades, then I’d absolutely recommend Pittsburgh Montessori.
Lastly, Mrs. Coles was the best teacher and I hope she’s enjoying retirement!! I did not forget you!!
When my daughter first started she wasn’t fully potty trained and I was told that was ok, she would pee on her own but not p**p, when she did her teacher wouldn’t change her!!…
Moving fwd to grade 1…her teacher Ms. Lapine is fake and prejudice! I’ve already expressed my issues/concerns to her and will NEVER forget how she PURPOSELY disregarded my child in public….
I have been at this school for seven years and I’m really going to miss everybody except a really mean teacher who has no respect for any of her students good bye Pittsburgh Montessori.
