As a student of Pleasanton Academy of Music for the last six years, I have grown as a student, pianist, and performer in ways that I would have never imagined. When I first joined Pleasanton Academy of Music, my teachers believed in me and provided me the opportunity to reach for higher goals by participating in piano competitions. I still remember the first competition I attended in San Francisco, proudly performed my work and achieved my prize medal. The experience enabled me to reach for higher goals with the continuous support from all dedicated teachers at the academy. My first debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York when I was 9 years old was all possible because of the profound support from my teachers. After joining the Pleasanton Academy of Music, I have had invaluable opportunities to travel in the U.S and around the world to countries in Europe for piano performances. Every time I walk into my lessons, I am excited to work on challenging, yet exciting repertoires, including solo, duet/duo, ensemble, and concerto. My first concerto by Kabalevsky was a success due to detailed lessons from my teachers to help me achieve the techniques required to perform the work with musical expressions. It was absolutely enjoyable to perform the concerto alongside my inspiring teachers accompanying me. Because of this work, I had a unique opportunity to perform with the Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra as a featured piano soloist in the Salute to Youth Concert. I now have full confidence to explore the wonderful world of music through advanced repertoires. All of these opportunities were only possible because of the support from my teachers at Pleasanton Academy of Music, who dedicate their time and effort to ensure that I can perform each piece with correct details, interesting dynamics, and strong techniques. Ultimately, Pleasanton Academy of Music is a place of opportunities for me, where I can try new things and achieve my musical goals with the support of the teachers who always encourage me to reach my highest potential. I am deeply grateful for all experiences I have had at Pleasanton Academy of Music, and I hope that others can share the same experiences.
Ms. Rosalinda, my former instructor, was great! I loved my classes and grew a lot as a pianist. My new instructor, Emily, is also a great instructor. Let me go ahead and repeat that. Shes an amazing instructor and really talented as a pianist and I want her career to continue to move forward and succeed because she is very talented. I hope this is clear. They both get a 10 out of 5 reviews if I could as instructors and talent.
My three stars has nothing to do with the way they teach. It is only the lack of communication I felt towards the end. The Academy sets you up with instructor and lets the instructor figure it out completely with the student which is fine. However, if a parent stays to talk with the instructor after their kids class which is during your class time then your time gets shortened (happened to me). I dont find this fair, I do understand parents have concerns and questions but my class shouldnt get shortened from it. Another thing, my schedule changed and I couldnt make it to class which I gave a 24+ hour notice which is policy to the academy. We tried to work it out the instructor and I, but the only thing I wasnt a fan of is that I felt that I had to be consistent on reaching out to be able to see if I could make up class. I do understand its hard but communication is really important to me and I dont feel it is the best here. It may be different for anyone else but this was my personal experience. Lastly, if there is an emergency and you did not give 24 hour notice, it isnt guaranteed that youll be able to make up the class. Academy hits you with, you signed a 24 hour notice policy to be able to make up classes. It seems they dont consider unforeseen events. Academy made it seem like the instructor broke policy to makeup class due to my unplanned / unforeseen circumstance.
Again, instructors are wonderful and they are very talented. Outside academies, these instructors are amazing and anyone should be lucky to have them.
My 7 year old son has been taking ukulele lessons at the Pleasanton Academy of Music with Mr Chris Meeder for about an year now.Mr Chris is a very knowledgeable and dedicated teacher and has been very patient with my son.He gives regular feedback on areas that need improvement. My son went from having zero knowledge in music to reading and playing notes and chords within a year.Mr Chris is also very understanding and flexible when it comes to making changes in class schedule.
I highly recommend Pleasanton Academy of Music as it provides a great environment for kids to learn music at their own pace.
