My little girl has been with this wonderful team since she was five-months old. I chose Pomfret Woodlands after looking around at least ten others. It is not local, or on my way to work and so was not chosen for convenience. These are my reasons behind my decision.
1. On my first visit, the staff were invisible because they were so embedded in play with the children. They did not break off to wow me with their setting. I see this dedication and commitment from the whole team whenever I go to collect my little girl.
2. They talked about my child as a child. They didn’t show me planning or cite development matters (a hazard of Nursery-hunting as a teacher). They asked about her routines, her feeding, things she liked. They still do.
3. I did not need to schedule an appointment to drop paperwork off. The team have transparency- I have seen all times of day when I’ve picked up and never been asked to wait. The team are clearly confident in their practise – and rightly so.

My little one has now been at Pomfret Woodlands for almost a year. She has made secure attachments with staff, lovely friendships and waves goodbye when she is dropped off. They have helped my girl feel happy, safe and confident. She is making progress too, but as a working parent, I care more that she enjoys her time, has positive interactions and feels loved when I can’t be there. She gets all of this in abundance.

As well as fantastic provisions, the team organise lots of family events such as forest schools, Christmas parties and barbecues, so parents can meet one-another, and can interact with staff. It does feel like a big family. Choosing a nursery and going back to work is absolutely the hardest thing I’ve had to do as a mummy. Thank you to all at Pomfret Woodlands for making it feel right.
