I like the school, the environment is nice and no one seems to bother me much. Most teachers are friendly and offer help if the students need it. However, I have one complaint. I know the school is somewhat competitive when it come to academics, but I really cant find the reason why when some of the kids are behind, the teacher has to be on their back 24/7. 1. Its a bit humiliating when the teacher acknowledges that you are the behind one, infront of everyone in the class. See I can understand why they should monitor them, but there is absolutely no reason to call them out. There was a girl in my study hall, her study hall teacher had threatened to check her grades if she wasnt doing work. She was doing work, but she was already done and the teacher never believed her. She was a bit behind in chemistry but she was studying hard and making sure her grades could finally go up. But, the teacher had the nerve to call her out because of ONE F, infront of everyone. Grades should be a private matter only to be discussed with a teacher and student PRIVATELY, not the teacher screaming WHY DO YOU HAVE AN F infront of everyone. You wont make the student feel better, if anything, their self esteem could drop. Its never ok to put pressure on someone. Just the right amount could eventually hurt them. Honestly this sounds like a really dumb thing to complain about, but Ive seen this many times and its pretty harsh.
Ok so this school is very resource for students who are looking forward to stay occupied. They have so many programs to get involved in, the teachers care for students, they want to make sure you’re alright academically and outside of school. You gotta have above a 2.5 gpa to stay enrolled. In my opinion the school is huge, stories very colossal campus. There is block schedule so you’ll have only 4 classes a day, school ends after 3 and stars before 7:00. It is a magnet school, but if your coming from Silver Lakes then you go in automatically, otherwise it’s a lottery. Their band is the best in my opinion, I LOVE the theme song, it’s evry groovy. You just have to be organized to keep up with classes. They also have a great guidance staff, you can visit them during lunch, or your study hall: personalization. They also have a great swim team, as far as I know. It’s a lot to keep up with academically, but they’re there to help you, they have tutoring two days a week. They also have a very approachable and outstanding security staff. They have student mentors and T.As .Lastly they have no school Friday’s which you can use for homework, volunteering, your job or whatever else you’d like. Usually teachers are very friendly too. – D.P
