To address JJ T, no 3rd grader puts that amount of care in the world to worry about someone being They/Them; the only reason why they would be that *distressed*, as you seem to allude to, would be to mirror the irrational behaviors of the adults around them. Please don’t say “Do as you please and be you” and immediately backtrack by saying “you may only exist by the terms that I am comfortable with”.
But for a 3rd grade field trip, To learn about outdoors and being creative. The first welcome and introduction should not be about someone’s personal beliefs and what they want to be called.
My 3rd graders have now questioned more about how this person is not male or female but only goes by “They” or “Them” then the experience they should have had at Poudre learning center.
We have gone here for years, This will be the last time we ever do this.
