As a first time mom, I felt an immense guilt for choosing to go back to work and not staying home full-time to take care of my son. Every day I dropped my son off at the previous center, I would cry all the way to work. It was truly the hardest three months I ever had to endure.
I wanted a clean classroom, smaller class size, and a teacher that would take the time to actually care for my child instead of leaving him on the floor to sit by himself. I met with Joe (the owner), after receiving three recommendations from other Primrose parents. I was astonished at how passionate, caring and honest he was throughout our multiple visits.
From the moment I walked into the building I was met with a smile and saw first hand the caring nature of all of the staff members I met. Upon visiting the classroom I immediately noticed the smell (yes, the smell), it wasn’t the smelly diaper, spit-up smell that some daycares have, it actually smelled nice, and clean! Seriously. Second, the entire classroom was neat, had plenty of toys and activities for the babies to play with each day, there was art on the walls and the cribs were clean and freshly laundered. It was, and has proved to be, a wonderful environment for my son.
The class size is small, and they actually work one-on-one with the babies-working on developmental skills like eating solids, standing, walking and other skills like washing hands before they eat and after a diaper change. In addition, parents receive pictures each day- which I love! Further, the teachers do this as a career and actually enjoy what they do. If I could have known one thing about researching a daycare/school it would be to get an idea of the turnover at a center and ask who they hire and what their qualifications are. Primrose hires qualified individuals, most times with degrees, that truly want to do this as a career versus individuals looking for a temporary job. The first day I picked my son up, I walked in and one of the teachers was rocking him in the chair. ROCKING HIM! I couldn’t believe it! He was so comfortable that he was practically asleep- on the first day. Of course I immediately cried..happy tears!
I don’t normally write reviews, at least positive ones, but this school has provided me with something that I never thought would happen-reassurance that going back to work was the right decision for me- and for that I’d recommend this school in a heartbeat. Best decision I’ve ever made.
