This school neglects its classrooms. The ones that are required are the ones that get all the supplies and all that. Classes like manufacturing are being neglected. Sped classes need supplies from other classes. Some staff are rude while some are nice. Teenagers in here have no regard for the campus, school just gave up on the dress code, they keep telling everyone no eating in the stairs because people leave food and stuff but they continue to do it. And then there’s the neighborhood. Where I live, kids had vandalized cars, doors , I’ve seen people jump into people’s balconies. people overreact over fights, I’ve seen instagram accounts where people post fights. It’s kind of easy to make friends here, but you’ll be judged if you do something out of the norm, you can’t really be yourself all the way throughout the school. Teachers abilities to teach are varied, some are good at it while some make it harder for you to learn when they could easily simplify it. Sometimes it’s a difficult task trying to talk to your counselors. Also the parking lot, it’s some of the worse traffic you’ll see when everyone is released. I’ve seen an accident happen, of-course it’s teenagers who were involved. People often have some type of stink bomb going off, so when you’re switching classes you’ll see people covering their nose. The girls here often wear revealing clothing, guys just do the typical guy thing when it comes to them. You do get free lunch, but it’s varied on how good they are. The pizza is good if you get the nicely cooked ones. During lunch, people sometimes go into the library, which there’s huge screens there so you’ll often see something out on there but it’s usually something weird. There’s very loud people here and sometimes if you’re bigger then others, they’ll say something random. Racism here is varied, you don’t here much racism for Asians or Muslims, but there’s certainly racism here for black and whites. The Spanish speakers here say the N word more then black people. Whites are often called where boy or something of that nature. Kids don’t care much for the teachers, there’s kids that come in during roll call then leave right after. You here a lot of talk back to the teachers. To be fair, from what I’ve heard, some teachers are biased towards their students, and that could be true as it seems they have the freedom to do so. This school certainly getto, maybe not as much as something from California but it’s definitely up there. You’ll be fine going here but you also have to be efficient with knowing what you shouldn’t do as well even if you feel devious.
I just want to say all the problems they are having with this new High School it was never like this with the old high school!!! With all the people coming to the Reno area changing the demographics and it’s only going to get worse!! Population growing too fast too quickly..
SOOOO SAD!!! All that money spent to provide a wonderful environment for the children and look what it’s become. And again I say I believe it wouldn’t be this way if it wasn’t for ALL THE PEOPLE COMING HERE!!! We basically live in California now!! CALNEVA… the Reno that used to be no longer exists and it will never be the same!! ONLY GONNA GET WORSE!!!!! GET READY!!!!
I was there to take my granddaughter to school. The ladies in the office are so nice and respectful and that’s really good to see. Hug High School is a good school, unfortunately my granddaughter does not want to attend school at all really. So I was there to make sure that she stayed at school. The counselor, the truancy officers, the principal, the vice principals, and everybody are so helpful and doing the best that they can to make it easier for my granddaughter. We’ll see if she accepts their help or not. Thank you everybody at Hug High School for helping me and my granddaughter, I really do appreciate it.
