One of the worst schools I have ever been to mainly because of this staff member named Ms. Barbra (If I remember it correctly). She is probably hated by many many kids in the school because she is the rudest KAREN I know. I am only posting this because my sibling who also goes to this school is upset almost every time he comes home. My sibling’s first language like many isn’t English. This is now where the issue is. When I was a student there, my first language isn’t English either and I couldn’t speak very proper English either. If a student doesn’t feel well, you bring the student to the nurse, not yell at the student to just go to the next class and that it isn’t a big issue. That was what happened to me with Ms. Barbra. Not only that she shows bias towards many students and shows signs of racism. For example, my sibling’s friend accidentally spilled water on the cafeteria floor once and my sibling went to grab napkins to clean up for him. Then what happened?! Ms. Barbra came fuming and blaming everything on my sibling without even knowing the whole situation. How does this show racism you might ask? My sibling’s friend was white and my sibling was with color. My sibling also played the switching game during recess like any other kid. Guess what?! Ms. Blind Barbra here called my sibling out even though my sibling was following the rules. That is just a few of many reasons my sibling sometimes came home crying to me. My sibling can’t go and talk back like I couldn’t back then. But I won’t keep quiet because this is a very serious problem. Ms. Suzy adds a whole star for being the best staff I had over there. My other memories there were full of humiliating scenes caused by the staff and teachers there calling me out for problems I didn’t cause. Mr. Ihne, seriously not a good place to grow!
This is not a bad school. The teachers are very dedicated and friendly staff, especially Ms. Nappi, Mr. Napolitano and Ms. Miller. The communication is good. My only gripe is I don’t like the way they handle graduation. They charge you for all the things that come with graduating such as a yearbook, senior dues, balloons for the arch to take pictures etc they also booked a venue and charged for tickets But there is no cap and gown! This makes absolutely no sense. The hype of a graduation is the cap and gown. The children have worked so hard and should be able to have a traditional graduation especially if it is treated as such. I feel like if they’re going to carry it like this then it could just be a simple ceremony in the auditorium and just hand the kids a piece of paper. The main sign of a graduation IS the cap ?? and gown! It’s unfortunate that they have been doing it this way for 22 years and are not open to change. Hopefully they can be more open-minded moving forward.
Even though I only been in that school for only fifth grade it made me so insecure and made me think I didn’t fit in, not even my other school made me feel this way. it was honestly that school that made me think I didn’t belong there because of my race it made me wish I wasn’t who I am. My little brother is going to that school right now and if I could make him switch schools I would. There are also a lot racism and bullying. Some of the teachers are okay and very respectful while others are rude like Mrs Barbra (I think that’s how you spell it) it’s honestly not all the schools fault some of it is the students
