This school is in a great neighborhood where the children are safe. They have a proactive and very involved PTA that makes the kids have extra special things throughout the year with the fundraisers. My now 21 year old son went here and he is now in college going to be a doctor and my daughter is in 4th grade having been here since Kindergarten. I would not want her anywhere else in the city except a Catholic school that is how good this school is. Very caring environment and excellent teachers. this school is the best thing next to a Catholic School. If you are lucky enough to be zoned into this school, then you are lucky. The teachers, and the Principal hold the students to a high standard of conduct and performance. I have the money and resources to pull my child out of a public school if it were anything like the ones my child’s friends tell me about. I feel happy that my child is in this school and am very pleased with the standards.
I like the school. both my kids go there and they cry every summer because they miss their teacher. the teachers that I have had so far are really great. they communicate well with me and are all about helping my kids. My son’s 2nd grade teacher Ms. Alessi is really great. You dont always get teachers who care about your kids and want to see them succeed, specially for black kids. So I am happy with this school. I give it a 4 star rating because there is always room for improvement, and the cafeteria do need some changes, and to be cleaner. I am glad they finally got cameras around the school. because this will prevent an incident that occurred last year from re-occurring. Also the after school needs to let the kids focus on doing their homework instead of making them do extra work. because when the kids get home at 6pm its time for dinner, shower, reading and bedtime. Overall great school I’m lucky i’m in this school zone.
P.S.45 isn’t really a good school. The students at the school are disobedient for most of the time. They would use offensive language and would forever get in trouble. The students would also judge of what you wear and so on. If you were a new student, it would be extremely hard to fit in and actually make new friends. The teachers aren’t good either. One of the teachers actually slapped a child. That’s unacceptable. Also, the teachers wouldn’t let the children go outside, instead, they would sit indoors and stay in silence. The teachers are also hungry for money, they’ll start giving out notices about how they need money. This tells you that the school is poor. To sum it up, this school is rather ghetto. Everything that a child would experience at home will be brought to school. Most of these experiences are bad. In conclusion, it’s best not to go to P.S.45.
