My Child went there from Grades Pre-K till 1st Grade. When i got the letter in the mail stating that this school was such a low performing school and my child was given an opportunity to transfer for better learning; i immediately filled out paperwork, and had my child start 2nd grade in another school. My child now has so much more learning opportunities, they have much more after school programs ( art, sports etc) and it really makes me sad that PS 44 never even had any of these programs for their students to grow. I even went to PS 44 as a child myself and nothing has changed besides the lunch ladies. No fight for better books, no fight for more funded programs or trips. That school is the way it is due to no one fighting for those children. What is more sad is this could be a great place, but their lack of motivation to change it around has really damaged the school with in itself. My son has been bullied, spit on, hand chairs pulled from underneath him hurting his neck, and not 1 apology. I can go on and on but if you have a choice to choose…. You’ll be cutting your child short by sending them to PS 44.
Not liking how they handled the first day back. Unlike every other normal school they decided that it would be better if the parents didn’t meet the teachers and parents just dropped their kids off at the front door. Every other school in the world the kids lined up in the yard with their parents, the parents met the teachers and seen the kids go in. Not at 44 they were very unorganized and then theres this lady screaming “bye parents byeeeeee” all ratchet . SMH y’all can do better then that. God I Hope my child is OK right now. Just because the school is in the location it is (by the project) doesn’t mean that it’s acceptable for the school to be dysfunctional and unorganized. SMH Lord just help my child make it threw this year and that waiting list for the choice school open up…….
If i could give this school zero stars i would this is the worst school in Staten Island. The staff do not care about the children at all my daughter attended 2nd grade at this school and i was always up at the school every other day because my daughter would come home and say she is being bullied and the staff refuse to do anything about it she got jumped on the school bus by 3 boys i have pictures of her injuries and still the school refused to do anything i hate this school it is horrible
