For Parents who need a truthful review:
If you are considering sending your Autistic child here, just know there is a lack of accountability and discrimination shows up in many forms. Some under-educated teachers are schooled in special education, NOT Autism spectrum specifically. Important details are hidden from the start and The school has a way of “shutting the parent out”. Staff should be held accountable for their mistakes(and they’re not) and lying should never be an acceptable action (and it is). Things have occurred (as can happen in any school) but after we left, others have shared disturbing insights. There have been Too MANY similar and uncomfortable stories. As we all know everyone’s experience can be different based upon privilege, race and many other factors- So this review is for the Unsuspecting parent to be made aware of what others probably won’t say. To be completely fair from all angles, not every staff member should be judged based on the actions of a few. Some of the teachers were great, so I hope the school can weed out the bad apples. I don’t normally write reviews and when I read them I’m looking for facts and truth (not emotional rants). Therefore, I want to mention that this review is not coming from an angry nor hostile attitude. Simply, as a REAL special needs mamma, I would have appreciated a heads up review regarding the Negative Tendencies about a facility versus only reading “good” reviews that come from friends and associates.
So there’s yours, best of luck!

*******TO THE SCHOOL’S REPLY BELOW*****
A simple APOLOGY for your staff’s clear unprofessionalism would have been sufficient, but I didn’t expect you to provide one. The situation was discussed with the ONE person who was willing to return my call, no need for you to sway from the facts or distort the truth of what occurred just because the school’s character has been truthfully exposed. Nevertheless, what’s done is done and we are happy it brought us to a better, more caring school. THANK YOU FOR CLEARLY PROVING MY POINT TO OTHER PARENTS regarding ps academy’s lack of accountability for their actions. It’s good for others to see this truth so they can best protect their precious children and take them to a school that truly cares about more than tuition. My voice is here for the sole purpose of informing interested parents, not debating angry staff members. If you had something to say, you should have spoken up before things got out of hand- but you didn’t! There’s no need to dig the hole any deeper now. You all have done enough damage already. Learn from mistakes and just do better.
Good bye ??

A big shout out to Pieceful Solutions – This school and the staff are amazing to say the least. Michael was diagnosed with Autism at 16 years old, he was recently diagnosed with severe anxiety (he has had it for many years, but just diagnosed). He is 19 years old and is bound and determined to graduate, and hasn’t given up on that. There are many many days that he can’t walk out the door, In the short time he has been enrolled at this amazing school, they have contacted me- more in the short time he has been there, then the 1 1/2 years he was at his previous school (for Kids with Autism), I am talking about the Management of this school, they are the ones that contact me, they offer advise, and tell me not to give up. They care about the kids- not by saying it, but by showing it. This school is actually a school with school work, (not computers and TV’s). They change classes and teachers. They need specific (Arizona guidelines to graduate, they have a plan for all students) Not a Sales Pitch to get your (or scholarship money) The have a parent portal where you can see their daily grades, they have homework, they are held accountable, student handbook, and it is all right there – the best thing about this school for me as a parent is – They do not make empty promises to get your child enrolled. They say what they mean and mean what they say. Yesterday when Michael went to school, they had all his school work for him for any work he has missed. Heck, I never saw a piece of paper or any “grades” although I was told I would get them – from his previous school. Nothing was planned out for his plan to graduate, I requested his school records from his previous school (need them for Court- was ordered by the court, I got a spread sheet with his attendance and his IEP (was told by the previous school principle that would be all he needed. Nothing about what his plan was to graduate, what he had so far and what he needed.I am like really, 1 1/2 years and this is all you have? Not a school in my book but a day care, No daily records of what was done, how he did, Nothing) And this was sent by the Principle – Imagine that. Do not send your child to the previous school unless you need a day care. Anyone with a Child with Autism – please check this school out…..
Our son John is 14 years old and non-verbal autistic. We had him in another private school for several years, but his needs were not as great as others in his class and he was often overlooked. We moved him to Pieceful Solutions in 2017 and he has done very well there. At his old school, he used to say to us “stay home” frequently, and now he is always excited to go to school. We can tell he looks forward to it, and he is always happy when we pick him up. They do things with him that he enjoys, and the field trips and dances are wonderful ways for these kids to engage with their peers and the community. They also do after care which is super helpful not only for coverage when you have to work, but again extra time to interact with peers and have fun. They work with him on things that will benefit him now – there is a balance of reading and math and other things he can comprehend, but also things like life skills (cooking, doing laundry, etc) as well as music, PE and art. We can see a difference in him since he started, and he is definitely making progress. The school also offers a variety of clubs so there really is something for everyone. The staff has been great and we feel everyone is invested in making this a great experience. We would definitely recommend Pieceful Solutions!
