If I could give this a school no stars I would. My daughter who has always loved school doesn’t like this school. I have never been to a school that screams they need parental involvement but then don’t actually communicate with concerned parents. I have had so many problems here the main one being there are no syllabi, they charge the students for planners, but teachers don’t check them, and it takes 3-6 weeks for some of these teachers to enter grades into PowerSchool. (It’s funny there was a teacher work day on May 27 and my children still have missing grades in PowerSchool.) I have had several meetings at the school with teachers and administrators with no follow up. I absolutely hate that I have to send my children here, I wish I could afford private school for them. Update: The school actually has good programs. The problem is they don’t have teachers and administrators to fully make these programs successful. The teachers here do not value the education of your child, when you request a conference with them, they will only meet with you during their free period during the day, so you will have to take off work for them to not address your concerns. I tried to schedule a conference the teacher told me there was no need my child was doing fine. The very next day she had a 52% in that class, that is not fine with me, and no teacher that is educating children should tell the child or parent not to worry. If as a parent you value your child’s education, if you can afford private school to or know another way not to send your child to this school, send them to private school or another middle school but do not send them to QHMS. The four star ratings posted are probably from people who work there as there is no reasoning as to why this school is so great to them, they needed to boost their Google rating up from how the students and parents perceive the school
My child has never been to a school such as this. I’ve never been to a school where we’ve never seen the principal. I’ve been to the school atleast 12 times over a 6 month period and I’ve never seen her. This to me is a red flag to me. Every school she’s been to the principal made their presence known (4 schools). The teachers contact you once you start reaching out otherwise, forget it….but I understand that theory bc most of my friends are educators. The other nicer school (with higher ratings) is closer to us but we got shipped to this school:( I do like the diversity and some of the teachers who I’ve met and talked to. Lots of young teachers…(not sure about my opinion on that yet). But had I known we’d be here, I would’ve moved one block down the street to attend the other school. This school has lots of fights, ghettoness, cursing. I hear a boy was smoking weed on the bus last year…just a lot of mess.. Oh and don’t let your child be threatened by another student, it’s not really addressed in a timely manner. It takes awhile. It seems they have a overstretched budget, not enough support staff and many seem overwhelmed.
