Pulling our son out of CPS and sending him to Ravenswood Christian School has been the best decision we have ever made as parents. From the first time we walked in the door, we felt like part of the RCS family. The teachers and staff are warm, friendly, and caring. Also, the parents are very tight-knit and involved in the school. In my life, I have never been part of such a kind, loving, and accepting community as the one at RCS.

The RCS website states, “Ravenswood Christian School exists to come alongside parents to help train their children.” In our experience, this has been 100% the case. As parents, we are required to sit down and review our child’s homework every night, and we have face-to-face feedback from his teacher every day. RCS sees to it that each child is given the opportunity to excel.

This is a night and day difference from our local public school. Although the CPS school is ranked top 10% in the state, its students’ math proficiency is only 56%, while reading/language arts proficiency is 51%… Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of CPS teachers, the system is broken and there isn’t much they can do about it.

Bullying is another issue that is very present at CPS and is virtually nonexistent at RCS. Thanks to small class sizes, parental involvement, and emphasis on Christian values, RCS students are held accountable for their actions and receive the mentorship necessary for strong social-emotional development. This stands in deep contrast to CPS where teachers are overburdened with large class sizes, and poor behavior is allowed to slip through the cracks.

Thankfully, our child’s teacher, Ms. Genesis is THE BEST! She truly cares about all her students and their families. Again, thanks to small class sizes, she can get to know each student inside and out. She has been an AMAZING teacher and mentor both academically and spiritually for our child.

Lastly, RCS is incredibly affordable. We are not a high-income family, and yet we have been blessed with the ability to send our son there thanks to low tuition rates. This school is dollar-for-dollar the most valuable educational institution I have ever come across.

We cannot recommend this school enough to anyone concerned about public education in the City of Chicago. If this is you, make the change to Ravenswood Christian School. You will not regret it!

RCS has been a tremendous blessing to our family. At the time of this review, our oldest is a rising 2nd grader and our youngest will start preschool in the fall. We have been at the school for three years.

For my husband and I as Christian parents, it is our responsibility to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We needed to ensure we found a school with teachers and faculty we could trust and partner with; people who share the same worldview and values as they would be with our kids for the majority of their waking hours, all the way through high school graduation. RCS is that place.

From the beginning, we felt welcomed into the school family. The faculty genuinely loves our kids and they pray for us. This is not common or even considered at other schools. We feel safe dropping them off knowing that they are seen and cared for. The class sizes are small, which enables individual attention and tailored learning. Not only is the material presented from a biblical perspective, but the education is of the highest quality across all subjects. For example, our oldest was reading early on during his kindergarten year. In addition to the focus on academics, the school prioritizes the development of Christian character in each of the students, which complements our parenting.

As Christian parents, we are grateful beyond measure for this school and cannot recommend it highly enough.
