There are many things wrong with the school, most importantly, the staff. Many of the teachers at Kellis are rude, disrespectful, or just unfair as many will give up on students with out trying to help. One such student was kicked out of the school after most of the teachers gave up on him. They say they are one of the best educators in the state yet they’ll give up on a student. The front office is probably one of the worst support systems I’ve ever used. They’ll listen to a problem but won’t address or give attention to it. For 8 months I have complained that the buses on late starts are random and not helpful. They’ve listened and never addressed the problem. They won’t even call ahead to tell us what will happen with the bus. The guidance counselors are alright and helpful but, can’t do much in the grand scheme of things. We have pep rallies and events but it never feels as if the educators thank us for coming out to fundraisers and events. The real problem with the school is the education. They seem as if the special education program is the hallmark of the school. This is true and if you need a school with a great special education I recommend the school but, it feels as if they don’t focus on us. The school might have one of the best special education programs in the nation but, is so far from a real education and it all goes back to the staff and teachers.
Drama is big factor of all high schools so it shouldnt even be mentioned that it also applies to Kellis. Not a bad school for academics but the little rules every teacher has is completely ignorant.
My daughter loves kellis an enjoying it very much those saying the sport department is slacking is not true. My oldest son was in sports there an he is now in college becoming a professional.
