For all the parents who don’t actually see what goes on in the classrooms, here is your warning not to take your child here, especially your babies. After leaving this job, I have met many people at my new jobs who know the manager Melanie and not for good reasons. I worked in one of the infant rooms and witnessed many forms of neglect and negative behavior towards the children. I saw children’s heads being covered with blankets to “help” them sleep, which can easily cause a child to suffocate, and I will attach a photo to show that. There were also very unexperienced people in the back working with the babies, giving them bottles in their cribs alone to make them sleep, which is also very dangerous. The sink didn’t work in the classroom I was in, so for weeks straight the manager ignored my request to fix it and never washed a single babies hands. The woman in charge of the infant class I worked in was only 19 years old and pregnant and in my opinion, not experienced or physically able enough to watch 8 babies at once. During the fire drill there have been children left inside the building for over a minute long alone, which is were CPS was involved. There were never trainings on these drills for the employees, so when the fire drill happened the class I was in put the babies in cribs and struggled to roll them across the field outside alone. The worst part is when I contacted CPS they found over a dozen violations. The only thing the manager, was worried about was finding out who called and pressuring employees to come forward about it, instead of doing the right thing and training her employees to keep children happy and safe. I would personally never leave a child here.
What a relief is to leave my beautiful child in doting care of the wonderful people at RLS! The whole school is like a little family — everyone knows everyone else, kids play together and learn together. The classes are small — from 4 to 10 students at the most — so every child gets a lot of individualized attention.

The best part about the RLS is their teachers and staff. During our initial visit to the school, it took my then-2-year-old just a moment or so to feel the warmth of the lady who was to be her teacher and did not want to leave! She has since changed her teachers twice, as she grew (she is now 5), and loved each teacher with passion! This year, after the first class with the new teacher, she wanted to go home with her, and cried when I told her she couldn’t. Now, that’s awesome!

My wife and I researched all the day cares and schools in the area. We have many friends with kids in other schools, and we share stories. However, we have not found or heard of a school which is as personal and caring as RLS. Oh, and not to mention about half the price of the other places, with nice discounts for multiple kids!

Neither my wife nor I are Lutheran, but were accepted by the teachers and the staff at RLS, and found a home for our child there.

I recommend the school without any reservations!
