I LOVE this school!

My son is a 9th grade student and I am so impressed and blown away by the standards, conduct, and curriculum this school has. One of the most impressive aspects to the curriculum is the, social emotion learning component. It really has changed the game in learning styles and something, I feel, should be mandatory in every curriculum coast to coast. Why? Because it works!

In this day and age, life is moving so fast. Parents are working trying to take care of the family and when keeping the pace in this rat race of a world, we often times, don’t look at the emotional side of school, ONLY grades. But, it’s critical to make sure that the emotional well-being of our children is first before just making the grade. The principal and staff are absolutely dedicated to the children and it shows in the kids, grades, and test scores.

Even the private school sector is not doing this and I’m so glad that our family is a part of Rise Kohyang High School. The commitment and focus the staff posess are amazing. Its like a small town, close family, feeling when you walk into the school. The environment is professional and encouraging. No one is better than any other, everyone is open and embracing of the kids and families, and really encourage the students to be professional, mindful, and respectful of themselves and others.

Keep up the good work. You all are amazing and I would never want to go to another school anywhere.

9th Grade Parent

As a parent, I want the best education for my son. He started as a 6th grader at Rise Kohyang Middle School and really thrived there. When it was about time to finish middle school, I was confused about which high school he should go to. Then Bright Stars decided to open a high school in Koreatown. It was a relief and without any hesitation I enrolled him at Rise Kohyang High School. RKHS is a small school but has a rigorous curriculum and really cares about the students’ wellbeing. The principal, teachers and staff are always there when you need help. They response to your questions and concerns at no time. They treat us parents as a family and very open about everything that happens at school. They value our opinions because they understand what we want for our children and our expectations of the school. They acknowledge each student’s strengths and weaknesses so they can work with them individually to make sure they are ready to step into a big real world. The most important thing for me is knowing that my son wakes up feeling happy to come to school everyday. Whoever thinks that RKHS is not good enough for them, they must be looking for an easy way out and don’t really care about the education they get. I am so glad I made this choice and I believe my son is grateful too. RKHS rocks..!!
Despite being a new school, Rise High seemed much better than other schools. Many schools, such as Belmont, have over 2,000 students, so the student-teacher interactions are very limited. Since Rise is small, all students can have 1on1 interactions with teachers, which allows them to strive socially and academically. The teachers are amazing and try to alter everything they teach to help every student understand the concepts being taught. The site is much better compared to last year’s, and they plan to occupy the whole building by 2019, so the school can expand into it’s full potential. Overall, my experience here at Rise has been phenomenal, and I can’t wait for what the future has in-store. I highly recommend enrolling your children here, because they will have some of best educations they can get. Can’t wait to see them here!
