We enrolled our two year old in the preschool and were deeply disappointed. The teachers were indifferent, never even learning our names. The Lower School director was rude and unprofessional, badmouthing her employees in front of me. One afternoon I arrived to find my son with his pants and diaper off, in a puddle of urine, while the teacher talked to another teacher on the other side of the room. Classrooms were dark and depressing. When I gave our withdrawal notice to the Lower School director, she made sure to kick our son out on the very day that our last tuition payment covered, rather than let him finish the final two days of the fall semester with the other students, choosing to punish the child because of greed. The teachers showed no interest in offering our son a proper goodbye–clearly they didn’t care about him at all. It’s not worth the extremely high tuition. I have worked as an admissions director at an excellent independent school in Columbia, MO, and Riverfield falls well short of the expectations set forth by the governing bodies for independent education, at least in the preschool. We were much happier at B’nai Emunah, where teachers are cherished and respected by leadership, a happiness that the educators then pass along to the children. It’s a much warmer, personal, professional atmosphere, and much less expensive.
Amazing school! I have two sons that have attended. One who recently graduated and the other who has been there from 4 years of age and is in middle school. I have been incredibly pleased with both their education and the out of box thinking displayed by the teachers and administrators. The school is focused on helping individual children to succeed not on having all children conform to a standardized cookie cutter approach to education. It is an inclusive, safe environment where both academics and respect for others is taught. Brent W. you couldnt be more wrong and have clearly never had a child enrolled there. That is probably for the best, your outlook appears to be intolerant and I would rather not encounter it.
My daughter attended Riverfeild from pre-school through high school . Not only was she amazingly academically prepared ( attended east coast school on a scholarship) for College , but far more importantly Riverfeild provided an environment for the development of positive future members of society . Positive in their critical thinking skills, their recognition of the the gift of diversity in our society , their empathy for others and lastly their belief in themselves and their limitless ability to positively impact the world . ( I had reviewed 15 schools prior to our selection ) .
