So glad i decided to move. Thank god i had relatively good teachers. The bullies at this school often vape in bathrooms and trade drugs around. Teachers allow kids to fight but high-fiving is violating the no-hands rule… Detentions are handed out for uniform changes (ie from formal to sport uniform) from a last minute change email in the morning. Mental health services are terrible at the school and self-harm as well as depressed kids talking about s!icide is common. If your kid is enrolled here and you genuinely care about them then take them out of the school. Your best hope if you have to go is to get into the Japanese Immersion or Academic Excellence program or you’re not going to learn anything, you’ll be forgotten. I know because i was lucky enough to be in Academic excellence and watched my friends who did’nt get in completely in ruin by the mainstream classes. If you get Mrs Viner, Mrs Peters, Mrs Stobbie, Mrs Haataja, Mr McMaster or Mr Wiseman you’ll be good!
Goodluck future Robina students.
Both our children opted to go to Robina High & we have no regrets. The academic children tend to stick together.
The school is a bit confusing to navigate at first but can be easy to adjust to. The facilities are a quite lacking with no real specialisation into anything. The classes are quite large so if you fall behind it is quite hard to catch back up unless you’re blessed with a motivated teacher.
This school has been one of the better schools in terms of quality of teachers of all the schools I’ve been to but this school also had one of the worst teachers I’ve ever had that absolutely destroyed my creative passion in the topic they taught.
The school culture is alright, normal child divisions on culture as you see in most schools. During my time here I also never experienced any bullying to or from anyone.
School funding has increased more than 30% from 2015-2020, and 2020 is for some reason the latest available information, with this you’d think the schools situation is getting better, no, just check the schools yearly financial statement, the schools ratings are dropping by all metrics significantly, by both parents and student surveys, also new enrolments were increasing until Ben weeks became principal, now enrolments are going down and all that new money is going to crumbling sandstone blocks placed around the school and refurbished bathrooms (which the principal bans students from during class hours) no real improvement to students resources or extracurricular activity, it’s being run like a business, and not a very good one at that
So I see on here nothings changed about teachers caring more about uniform (no one can believe that I was in detention for having a bloody Nike tick on my socks in year 8 when other students were off doing far worse things) than education or even welfare of the students as I see the bullying has only gotten worse and I thought it couldn’t since I was there when a kid took his own life allegedly because of bullying? Parents, save yourself & your child the trouble & either homeschool them or put them in another school with a bit of standards.
