This is a 2.5 review. TLDR: Communication sucks!!

My daughter attended here years ago for kindergarten and first grade and I loved the school. She’s a freshman now so much time and the vid have changed things.

The communication this year has been HORRIBLE. I have a son who I put on the list for Pre-K before over the summer. I was told he was the first kid on the list so I had nothing to worry about. Gathered and submitted all necessary documents and paperwork and thought we were golden. First day of school comes and I’m being told have have no information or record of my son. Sat around for hours only to be told that they did indeed remember him and that someone would call me. I called repeatedly the first two weeks and was always fed the same line. Someone would call me back. It’s been a month, and no one has EVER contacted me in regards to him or his enrollment.

My other son, a first grader, didn’t get off the school bus one day during the first week. I messaged the teacher on class dojo and called the school. No one knew where he was. After speaking to my husband and calling back they informed me that he was in the car rider line and “must have wandered off”. They continually blamed him for being in the wrong place… I’m truly over it and disappointed because I once loved this school.

My granddaughter transferred from another Dekalb School and her grades and attitude about learning has tremendously improved since attending Rock Chapel. She is more engaged with her education and her study habits improved because the teachers take time with the students and encourage them to excel. The principal, the office manager in the principal’s office and the teachers are very nice, helpful and always greet you. Rock Chapel should be recognized as an excellent learning environment for our children and other Dekalb County Schools should shadow them. First Class Rock Chapel and thank you for encouraging my granddaughter to be an excellent, A/B student!

I wouldn’t recommend this school to no one !!! horrible experience smh my son is autistic and can’t communicate when ask questions. He comes home with bruises and black eye . when I ask him what happen he don’t say nothing . So I’m depending on the teacher to tell me what happen and they say they don’t know !!!! So many other events has happening involved in his safety smh every day I’m so worried . I’m working so hard to get him out that school . The system is failing us as usual smh this is heartbreaking as a mother ….
