Rock Hill School District is the reason why most prefer private or charter education for their children. School has started a little over a month ago, and already my child has had two week long quarantines. Now if I had opted to keep my child out for two weeks, the district would be threatening me with family court for negligence. But since there was a “close contact” with a Covid infected student, absences get a pass. If the district was really THAT concerned about the spread, they’d mandate masks. Don’t be lax about the prevention of the spread, and then take extreme measures when the spread occurs. And yes, forcing children into quarantine causing a 50% attendance rate is an extreme measure. Furthermore, why so many instances of “close contact” when kids are supposed to be socially distancing. Who is doing the thinking for the district? Covid is here, and will be here for a while until everyone gets on board with the same plan of prevention. Accept it. Adapt to it.. because no one is quarantined for a stomach bug or the flu close contact. At some point educating needs to come back into play. The failing of these children is very deliberate. If you want people to support public schools, support yourselves!
As a parent Im tired of worrying about the safety of my child. Threats made to our children aren’t being taken seriously. (Castle Heights) They level of irresponsible is sickening. IM NOT SUPPOSED TO WORRY ABOUT MY CHILD BEING HURT OR WORSE while they’re in school. WE AS PARENTS HAVE HAD ENOUGH !! You won’t risk my child’s well-being of my child.
