That little room is where Bella Romero 4th – 8th grade principle and staff have my disabled 9 yr old daughter sitting in her wheelchair with no one else but her para (a hired person to help assist my daughter) my daughter sits in this room a majority of the time, she tells me that it gets really hot in side of this room and is always lonely. They (staff and Principle) have been allowing this since my daughter started school there. My daughter may not be able to walk, may have a hard time speaking some words, may not be as advanced as other children but why is my child stuck in this little room without other classmates not being given the same opportunities as others to learn what she can? Is it fair that my daughter can get out of her wheelchair and sit in a normal chair unassisted but gets left sitting in her wheelchair all day everyday. Since when is it ok to isolate a child when they have the desire to be and feel as though she isn’t much different than the other kids? Since when is it ok to treat a child like they are worthless and can be shoved into a room the size of a closet Like this school has done? My 9 year old daughter is being discriminated against because of her disabilities and isn’t being given the opportunity to develop and grow social skills because they have chosen to stick her in this closet! What if this was your child?!?!? I tell you one thing this isn’t right, it isn’t what I wanted my child at 9 yrs old to experience. There is one thing for certain I’m going to be contacting a discrimination attorney to see what can be done. If I were you and you’re looking to take your child to this school to get their education, I would highly recommend you choose a different school.
