The new principal, Ms. Bounds, has made it clear she is running a dictatorship at Rowlett High School. Dr. Hammerly made sure her staff and students were treated with respect and FAIRLY while providing a fun atmosphere to education. Since Ms. Bounds has taken over her rule, she has left a lot of her staff very unhappy and it is sadly reflecting onto the educational atmosphere that Dr. Hammerly worked so hard to leave behind for only her predecessor to tear it down. It is sad to see an educational institution go down so fast because a person has no idea what she is doing when she has power. Ms. Bounds has punished kids to the extreme when Dr. Hammerly would gain an understanding of the kids and guide them, Ms. Bounds has also put people in positions where they have no clue just because they brown nosed their way instead of giving the position to a person who has not only earned it but has the experience and education to support the positions. As a person who is in charge of an educational institution, I would hope she would not tell people that education is not important and it is who you know….very sad.
Seeing how I am graduating soon, I’d like to warn some people about this place. Maybe I’m being a bit melodramatic, but let me tell you just how poorly managed this school is. The principal is utterly inactive (most kids don’t even know what she looks like) and the kids are treated like they’re inmates (even the mild mannered ones). The school is greedy, unforgiving and overall, a complete mess. The teachers for the most part were lovely, but they were also left in the dark about most important situations, as were the students. Students were often not told anything important until the last minute. Part of this is the district’s fault, but the fact that the students had to rely on rumors to figure out what was going on was just, well, sad. While I cannot speak for other schools in the area, I will say that they can’t be much worse than Rowlett High school. Please, if you wish to enjoy your years in high school or at least want a quality school environment, do not attend this school.
It was school. Teachers were nice and seemed like they cared about you getting your education. I had the same principal growing up changing schools when she did and eventually she grew to like me. The band was top notch and one of the few reasons I kept going.
