I was a first-time Mom touring a bunch of schools in order to decide which one my daughter was going to attend. This was the 8th school I visited, and Mrs. Haidar was a breathe of fresh air. She could see my nervousness and fear that comes with leaving your first child in school for the first time. She catered to my concerns with confidence and sensitivity. She is the master of her craft, in the best way possible. You can immediately sense she loves children and loves what she does. Children love her just as much. I talk about her mostly because she is the person you will see every single day; she greets you with a huge smile on her faceits unreal! Ive never seen (or noticed) her having a bad day. She also gives you a personal report of how your child did/felt/ate that day. She gets to know each child personally I mean, lets be candid, what school director does this? Youll end up wishing she was the one teaching your child.
The teachers I personally experienced here are mostly ok. The majority of them speak mainly Spanishwhich was not something I wanted for my kids. English is their first language, as is mine, so I wanted them to be able to understand their teachers without any issues. The one that stood out to me the most was Mrs. Alzate (or Gonzalez now). She was my daughters main teacher for VPK (4 yrs old class), and she made an effort to come outside at least 3 times a week at pick-up time, so that she could say hello and give me a small report of how my daughters day was. This is another person that children naturally gravitate toward she is amazing with them; they all want to be her friend. She also loves to decorate and make every event a special one. She no longer teaches at this location, however, she was moved up to teaching Kindergarten at the original RKA location on Okeechobee. Which was great for her but RKA 2 definitely lost a gem there.
If youre looking for a young teacher that speaks both English and Spanish fluently here, I would recommend Ms. Valdes. She taught my youngest son and he never ever complained of her being cruel to him or mean. He actually preferred speaking to only her because of the fact that she spoke English like we do at home. Ms. Valdes had a lot of patience with my sons more timid nature. He felt comfortable with her and thats all a mother can really ask for. Anything more than that (like Mrs. Alzate and Mrs. Haidar) is sheer luck and extremely rare.
There were times that I heard some teachers speaking to children in a way that I didnt like. At times when I was inside the school for any reason, I would overhear certain teachers yelling and speaking harshly to children. I never knew them nor did I have to interact with them but it struck a chord. So I would recommend extensive meetings with teachers before enrolling your child. Get to know them and trust your gut/feeling when you talk to them in person. Mrs. Haidar is pretty good at handling conflict and I know she would never allow a child to be mistreated, but at the end of the day she is not the one spending hours with your childthe teacher is.
The atmosphere inside this school is warm and fun. Its colorful and clean. They are very good with making every event beautiful and heartfelt. Honestly, they go all out. And it seems like the staff get along great with their director. They have a blast celebrating every holiday and like to coordinate with each other on their outfits, as well as the workload of decorating/cleaning up. Its comforting to see. My husband and I appreciated all of it.
I will miss this place and Mrs. Haidar immensely.
While it’s almost time for our little one to embark on a new journey at a different school, we want to express how much we will miss Royal Kids Academy and its amazing staff. The care and support you’ve provided to our child have been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the love and attention they received during their time here. Saying goodbye is never easy, but please know that you will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for being such an important part of our child’s early years.
With love, Martin’s family.
This is her first year in school, she was never on daycare so I was worry she was not going to adapt, but on the contrary she loves it! she has fun and she is leaning so much. And me as a mom I feel extremely happy that I know my daughter is in great hands!!!!
