This is probably one of the better schools in the area. However, my kids prefer their previous school before moving here. Average education. If you have a gifted child, they won’t be challenged. It really depends on what teacher your child gets. There are great teachers but there can be a lot of social pressure & misunderstandings between kids (even with teachers) when there is a conflict. I do understand the stress but the kids self esteem gets affected. One teacher purposely didn’t give my child (plus 2-3 others!) a cupcake that another student brought as a birthday celebration. The teacher ate the “extra” for herself & gave away the rest to visiting students. One student went up to get his missing cupcake & was told not to let others know. My child remembers the teacher stood nearby to hide the cupcakes. When my child asked, teacher said it was all gone & said she should have spoken up. These were treats brought by a student & should never be used against a child, especially without reason. The birthday child definitely saw & felt uncomfortable. Teachers underestimate these children as they are young but they carry these memories growing up. Compared to other schools, I still recommend this school but prepare your child on how to cope with teachers/children who may cause shame or guilt. Highly recommend having them read lots of books to help build their communication/social skills. I suggest the school allow anonymous reviews from students quarterly/yearly so that teachers can reflect for improvement too. Also separate the gifted students so they can learn together at a more challenging pace.
My child transferred here from another school, two years ago, she was excelling when she transferred and now she is so behind. My child is in 6th grade, her math teachers approach is if you can’t figure it out, circle it on the board. My kid still doesn’t get the guidance to figure it out. Now my child made a rude comment to her teacher, which was only brought up at confrences, so I had my daughter write a letter of apology and a note from myself asking the teacher to return it to me to ensure she recieved the letter. My daughter gave her the letter, her teacher said “an apology is only sincere if it comes from the heart”. Letter was not sent back to me. So I sent an email, ” could you verify that my child at least have you the letter” no response to me. Instead, to my daughter “I got the email from your mom” . getting so frustrated with lack of progress from my child with this school, so tired of lack of communication, SO TIRED OF DRIVING 45 MINS TWICE A DAY GETTING HER TO AND FROM WITH NO PROGRESS!
