After 6 years in the school we had the same experience regarding tuition. They refused to honor the insurance unless our child attended the school for 2 week. Regardless of the fact that he had already began his school year at a different school. We offered to let them keep the deposit and pay the first months tuition however they refused to accept that and threatened with legal action if payment was not made for the entire school year. I decided to move my children to a different school after 6 years at St. Marks because I began to notice a decline on the academics as well as high turn over of teachers. The school is struggling financially and it reflects on their academics. If you choose this school I highly recommend you only do so for elementary school and transfer the child before the 5th grade. Extremely disappointing experience particularly the lack of empathy after being part of that community for so long . Our children started their new school and the difference is night and day in terms of academics, campus, afterschool enrichment activities and opportunities available to them. I wish I would have made the change a lot sooner than we did.
St. Marks is absolutely top notch on all levels. We just finished our 5th year at the school with our son and 3rd year with our daughter. Without a doubt the best decision and investment we ever made was to enroll them early on in the PK program. The faculty and level of attention they provide is superb, every person there is extremely attentive. Dr. Rotella, Father Bob, and Mother Liza are the best, we love them and the entire staff!
The curriculum is very well balanced to encourage a challenging and wide ranging learning experience. It is amazing to see how quickly the children progress and how much they have learned.
I would be remised without mentioning about all the new friends and acquaintances we have made over the years (parents of the students)! You definitely become part of an amazing community!
I have sent my 2 children here for the last 2 years. They both seem to enjoy it very much and have told me they are happy at St Mark’s. I have found the teachers to be very nurturing and encouraging and yet not ignoring the academic needs and requirements that are demanded in this modern world. I have found the parents, as a whole , to be extremely nice, friendly and supportive.
If you are considering a School in Fort Lauderdale area, I would definitely look at St Mark’s.
