My rating is applicable to the cosmetology program. The instructor for the junior year cosmetology class (Mrs. Heine) did not provide hands on training or teaching. She would not assist students with techniques, questions or provide any useful knowledge. This 1st year program is supposed to give students shampooing licenses because we had enough hours and instruction to work at a salon as a shampooer; except our instructor Mrs. Heine refused to give us our licenses at any time while we were in her class. She poorly managed her classroom and failed to monitor and encourage respect among her students. When you needed help with cosmetology content, technique or application you were out of luck if a fellow student couldn’t help you. In order for students to complete this program and high school they must attend summer or evening high school classes along with their normal day time school year attendance. None of this is mentioned when students apply for this program.
going here for 4 years in not a bad experience. The teachers are nice and helpful if you pay attention and work in class. the students are nice if you have common sense. there have been fights around campus but they are easily dealt with, and in my opinion its best to just walk away from the commotion. The councilors are nice and the will help you as best they can, just always ask more than one councilor for information as some councilors can forget important information. The APs are nice and will help if you need it just always keep another copy of your abs hours sheets just in case. The library is nice and quiet and has a nice amount of books with tutoring after school everyday albeit Fridays. All in all I love this school. Just wish the were more leeway with being on campus after school. not everyday you can just hang out with friends when at home you have no rides and they live hours away.
You people know nothing about Sam. My entire life I have never had better grades. You people only know what the bad things are about this school. People here are easily influenced by others. Me on the other hand, it just made me think differently and that that’s not how I want to be. So Sam has taught me the lesson of life without even noticing it, and in the end even though I’ve been exposed to some things I’ll never end up actually do it. The teachers at this school has trained my brain to the extinct of above and beyond the small town I now call home. If your children are easily influenced and you want to let them go to school I suggest you shouldn’t because there are so many things they’ll be exposed to and want to start doing.
