San Francisco Day School creates lifelong learners and critical thinkers. The faculty are thoughtful, bright, and committed to the craft of teaching. The school emphasizes professional development so your child’s teachers are always improving upon their skills, challenging themselves, and deepening their understanding of what it means to teach. A talented and committed teacher is the key to any child’s success, and SFDS has talented teachers in droves.

SFDS has among the best student:teacher ratios among peer schools. In the Lower School, each class is lead by a master teacher and a co-teacher. There is also a learning resource specialist who works in the classroom and a classroom aide. Thus 4 educators:22/23 students.

The curriculum is well thought out and intentional. Without a doubt the academics at the school are strong, but equally important is the focus, especially in the early grades, on social and emotional development. Responsive classroom techniques help draw in all students, whether they be shy and retiring or bouncy and rambunctious, and a community is formed, one in which lasting friendships are created.

The art program at the school is phenomenal — teaching all students about local and international artists, some of whom come to the school to teach. Music, science, math specialists are all top-notch.

The students and families at the Day School come from all over the city, and our family appreciates the diversity of professions and people within the parent community.

But the best review of all comes from our children who love the school, their teachers, their classes, and their friends. This school love extends as far as the new cafeteria which they report has “awesome food” that is so good “we should cook those recipes at home.”

SF Day is a remarkable place. Its community, curriculum, facilities and faculty are all terrific. It is a pleasure to send our kids there each morning and to hear of their day each evening. They are thriving and we could not be happier.
Good Programs!
