I transferred to Schenectady High School as a junior and graduated there. I was not engaged and the curriculum for most of the various studies were classes I took in middle school or as a freshman. I ended up skipping over 40 days each year, 50 classes total each semester, and I still got my regents diploma and graduated in the high 80’s. I’m very disappointed with how the school pushes everyone along. Students I skipped with expressed that they didn’t learn material the way that they were taught material, and the staff didn’t adapt nor were the counselors and administrative staff concerned. Most got given a passing grade, hardly learning the material, and now struggle today.
I hope things change. This is not the only school that does this. It’s a national epidemic. I’m just a little baffled that a once great political city is not turning kids in productive members of society with any know-how of common practices.
I went to this school when it was Linton. It was great then and even greater now!!! For all the people who like to bash the teachers and administrators about the so called 90% of the population being disrespectful and like to fight?? Please remember these attitudes have to be corrected at home!! It is not the teachers job to make sure your child is behaving in a descent manner it is the parents. the teachers here go above and beyond to help all these children. cant you go above and beyond to set an example for your kids and teach them dignity, respect, and to love all those who surround them? when this happens the 90%will be great kids and the 10% will just be.#FAMILYVALUES
It’s fun there, some of the teachers are really nice and actually care about their students while some don’t. The food could be better though. And resources to educate the students could be better. That school needs better funding in order to connect with the students. It’s gets treated like trash, when the education department could give them more money to do more stuff and get new uniforms for the sports that are there.
Basically it’s not fair that the department of education wants to treat the school like trash but make all the other schools look good. The teachers actually want to have better things for their students, like newer computers and laptops. They need that.
