The principle was the last person to meet with at which they called my 1st grade son over to ask him questions as though he was in a court room while in a parent teacher meeting. On another occasion the school social worker waived me off like a flea on her shoulder when my autistic son peed his pants 4 hours prior to pickup with no change of clothes and was told to go sit in the locker room by his p.e teacher and change and he did not know how to change. I asked for many IEP evaluation meeting and reports to get my son help bc his grades were depleating as well at which I received no reports until they decided to complete his process of eval on their timing . They claimed he needed nothing although his previous school had him on 3 IEP s and self help with a person assisting him in the classroom as well as 1 self contained classroom. My husband and I are appalled at such unprofessionalism. There was also a lice breakout and after treating my child and sending them back they returned home with lice in all stages within 3 days which was just impossible if the classroom was checked. We treated again sent her back and the nurse said “we are the ones that legally choose if your child goes back to class or not not your doctor ma’am”. She returned and I asked the school nurse to please check her class .The nurse said she “would get to it when she could she has been busy all day.” After that school day my husband and I returned to the school nurse asking about our prior request. The nurse replied in a laughing tone the same thing again. We continued to check for what we thought was lice for a week and found nothing then 1 week later full blown all stages after missing 3 days of school the same week. An egg could not have hatched during that time it was all live lice. I returned asking if the nurse had checked my child’s class yet or ever. She replied “well the 1st grade has a breakout this morning so I’m headed that way. ” During this time no one including us received a lice notice for 2 full months. The care and unprofessionalism at this school is by far the worst we’ve ever witnessed thus far.
I absolutely love this school. I have a second grader that has been going to school here since the beginning of 1st grade. I am writing this review due to the review left by the froggy lady about 5 months ago. My son also had an IEP from another school he was at for kindergarten. It was not difficult at all to have my son start coming here. The school asked for a copy of the previous IEP, then they did the evaluation and incorporated the previous IEP into my son’s IEP for this school. No issues at all. My son also peed his pants last year. Twice. Each time he was instructed to change into different clothes. I didn’t know until I picked him up and they informed me. They had him in different clothes and different shoes. They even said he can keep these shoes because he really liked it (they light up). Also there has not been any lice outbreak at this school since my son has been going. Which would have been since August 2016. Like I said I have no issues with this school. Now this doesn’t mean that everyone is cheerful and nice everyday. I mean the school is ran by humans. People have had days but the school is great and my son loves going there.
I have had three children attending the school since 2010. They have had multiple teachers and each grade level has been wonderful. They come home with loads of homework that only takes up 20-30 minutes of time, It leaves time for play and dinner. We especially enjoy attending the Family movie nights, it gives the kids something to look forward to, I just wish their were more dates on the calendar. They sell concessions and we can bring our own blankets and comfy chairs. The Fall Festival was amazing last year, my kids spent so much time on the Velcro wall and the best part about it was that all the teachers were involved, the principal was even stuck making the cotton candy. I always feel very welcomed when I walk onto the campus. I would like to see more news about the sports events come home. There wasn’t any reminders as to what games were coming up or who the school was playing. The kids work hard on the team and we hardly came out to support them.
