My experience with Somerset has been terrible. My son has been in the school for 9 years. My daughters for 8. Since all the changes that have gone on my family has experienced nothing but trouble. Granted children are not perfect even mine. However, I have not been disrespected nor had my children talked down to in any other establishment. I was yelled at by the principal over the phone several weeks ago while discussing my daughters detention. I also was extremely disgusted when told by other parents that staff was referring to my daughters as “mean girls”. Yet that is not something staff wanted to discuss or ever got back to me. It also seems there is a bullying issue which staff is able to bully kids or in my daughters case be shoved by staff or called named but it is only an issue when kids do it. I have also had issues with my daughters and a particular girl which of course repracussions are only taken out on my girls. When trying to provide statements and proof of what is being done some students were told they need to drop it or they too will be punished. I have no clue what happened to the school we loved. The school we recommended friends to who are as well now complaining. What a shame when we choose to be bias, not give our youth a chance and when we choose to not act as the example that staff should be for our students. It is horrible to see this from a school that was great and our children never had a problem with. Parents beware I know we all only want what’s best for our children.
This review is unfortunate and in no way represents the hard work and dedication of the teachers who work there. This review is solely based on my sons experience and the way administration does nothing but seat in their offices and drink coffee all day. All you see on social media is nothing but noise. Freshman students have the hardest time being accepted and getting acclimated in the school. There’s no support, no investment on these kids and the pressure is ridiculous. I witness a mother dropping off lunch from home to her child and administration turned her away saying no outside lunch allowed. This is pathetic! Ridiculous. Parents think about it twice before allowing your kid to attend this school. My son applied to health sciences academy, to date not one person has been able to tell me about the program and how come he is not taking those classes. If I could give this school a zero that would be it.
this school has amazing friends but the education here does suck. I’m new and how the teacher teaches lessons are pretty difficult for math and civics. the teachers are nice, especially the math, science, intensive reading, and reading teacher. I don’t like the lady securities. They’re really mean to me and my friends. they don’t allow us to wear skinny pants but yet I see other girls roaming around with them making me wonder how come I get in trouble for it but not them? they’re education and rules here sucks. the only thing that’s good is that we can use our phones. if you were to apply your kid here, I wouldn’t really suggest that. I already came here, and its not going too well for me
