What gem! We make it to Panama City numerous times each year to visit local family and friends, visits to Somethin’s Cooking (and the Bistro Garden Cafe) will definitely be on the agenda from here on out.

The retail side of the store has so many specialty grocery items, interesting cookbooks, and knickknacks. The culinary classes look like a first class experience.

For our lunch, we had several items. The chicken and dumpling soup started with a rich, flavorful chicken stock providing a great base for the hearty portion of chicken and delicate dumplings.

The side salad was dressed with a house-made balsamic, coupled with a parmesan ranch dressing. The sweet, savory, and acidic flavors were fresh and crisp.

The shrimp BLT on sourdough was great. It overflowed with shrimp, dressed with a rich but still light remoulade.

The ham and Swiss was a hearty portion, served on artisan marble rye.

The Parisian Jambon was also a great sandwich. A hearty portion of ham, thick slices of brie, and the crunch of fresh apple.

Each sandwich was paired with the bacon ranch house potato salad.

Can’t wait for another visit!

One of Panama City’s hidden jewels. I come here for the most delicious lunches I have ever had locally. Everything on the menu is prepared fresh daily. My favorites are the chicken and dumplings which taste just like my mom’s and the bistro salad. The desserts are yummy too. One of the few restaurants that still uses cloth tablecloths and serves water in glass goblets. An added bonus is that they faithfully feed a homeless cat community every day. The owners are very kind people.
Went here for the first time yesterday after a recommendation from a friend and I’m so glad! It’s a restaurant, store and culinary school, the food and service was perfect, I’ll definitely be going back very soon and I would absolutely love to take a cooking class here as well! They sell decor and cookware as well, some of the cookware is Cuisinart and my personal favorite Le Cruesset.
