I worked at Sonnets for 2 years and one thing about Amber is she runs a strict school but theres so many scary situations happening at daycares around the country that strict management is what is needed to make sure the children are safe and getting the education and nurturing needed to have healthy development.
I have really bad anxiety and dont let anyone watch my son for more than a few hours and its only my family that I allow to watch him AND i make them send me pictures every hour. As an anxious first time mom, I had absolutely no anxiety leaving my son at Sonnets because I know hes in great hands. Being an employee gave me first hand knowledge on how Amber runs the school. I initially chose a school in my neighborhood but once I got a taste of a school run by someone else I said nope I need to call Amber.
My son was getting sick all the time and coming home with bumps and bruises, sometimes unexplained by the teachers, and he would be so hungry. All i could think about was how this would never happen at Sonnets, even with covid.
Amber makes sure everything is in compliance with dcfs, the classroom and toys are cleaned spotless every day, and the turnover rates are low because she understands how multiple teachers in and out can negatively impact childrens development.
No matter what, Amber always put the needs of the children and the best interests of the parents first and thats super important.
In my son’s first month at Sonnet’s, they sent him home THREE times, asking me to pick him up within 10 minutes and required a doctor notice for return. He was never sick. In fact, the doctor’s joked with me and sympathized with me because my daycare was so strict. First time they said he vomited which was mostly likely spit up. Second time they said he had a rash which was his normal eczema and third time they said he had diarrhea twice in one day when he was still on BM not eating solids yet.
The entire experience was stressful. Every day, I would have a lot of anxiety that daycare was going to call and I’d have to drop everything to go pick him up and then rush to a doctor appt for him to be able to return the next day. That is time, stress and costly.
I’m happy to report that we moved to the suburbs and my son joined Bright Horizons for a few months before joining Chesterbrook Academy. He has never been sent home. My experience is night and day.
I strongly suggest you consider a different daycare other than Sonnet’s.
