Do yourself and your child(ren) a favor and do not enroll them into this school. This school is a joke. They do not care about your child(ren) well being. I have witnessed first hand the faculty/admin being mean, short, and rude to our kids. I have witnessed the teachers ignore the kids so they could continue whatever they had going on in their phones or computers. Administration is just as bad. They are clueless of what is going on inside of the classrooms. I have to find out incidents from my daughter or other parents before the school even decides to document it or notify anyone. This school is so quick to talk policy’s and what is suppose to be done, but they do not practice the standards set forth for them to utilize. I was told I could not see my daughter participate in field day because I did not fill out a volunteer form. I did not know that I needed to fill out a volunteer form to see my child participate. I do not have to fill out a form to see a class play or any other school function. When I brought this to their attention. They told me that I needed to be an approved volunteer to interact with other kids. I didn’t ask to participate or volunteer. All I wanted to do was see my daughter at a school function, but they denied me that right. Which still to this day makes no since to me. My daughter is finishing the fist grade and because the school board decided to call HEAD LICE a medical condition my daughter has now come home with head lice 5 times since Kindergarten. No matter how many times I mention to the school they need to implement a different policy. They just tell me it is not up to them. Its like they do not even care. I am a busy full time working mom. I don’t get home till 6pm at night Monday through Friday. It would be nice to know I had a school I could work with when it comes to issues with their school, but they do not care. They do everything they can to make it seem like it is not the schools fault for the issues they have. The fact that they are understaffed and do not care to monitor our kids safety blows my mind. They will do and say anything to make themselves look good and have you questioning your child and parenting. Beware this school is not where you want your child to be. If only I had more time and patience to list the rest of the issues this school had caused me and my daughter. Also, she has only attended this school for kindgergarten and 1st grade. All the issue stem from this year and the teacher Ms. Shearer. It is her first year teaching and I think this may not be the career path for her.
My 1st grader got switched to this “school” by fault because we moved , from the beginning she has came home crying almost everyday not only bc the children bully and no one ever helps her including teachers ECT… Had a hard time getting someone to listen to me that she needs further help with her work she has been told she doesn’t need help because”she should know this already” . The staff INSIDE the school in the office with an exception of the principal bc I’ve never met with him before , the girls in the front treat u as if u are stupid . Every school in Volusia is different and they act like u know ALL their protocols when picking up a child … I had a woman in the front tell me “That isn’t how u check out ur child” and proceed to give me a dirty look . U aren’t office personal 24 hrs a day . Alot of these woman need to watch their mouth and show some respect to parents as well as children because at the end of the day like I said u aren’t a teacher and on school property every day … Some of us parents won’t have as much respect for you when u aren’t at school … The kids need to be better supervised and sitting kids on the stage for a silent lunch is absolutely wrong … Making kids feel left out in front of everyone isn’t punishment it’s embarrassing and makes them feel more alone. I pray my daughter gets the help she needs Because if not the school board is the next one to hear it from me . “no child left behind” .. doesn’t exist any more . All they care about is having employment but don’t care what they are employed for … I care about my kids education even if this school doesn’t ! Worst school I have been to by far in Volusia county and we’ve been to two previous schools who managed to be respectful to each child and parent .!! Figure it out SDE !!!
I am so upset I had tried to get a variance for my child and was denied. So yesterday I reluctantly enrolled my grandson for kindergarten while there witnessed the woman at front desk bully a child … the child’s mother had brought him late and just sent him in and left yes parent was at fault but this woman chewed this child out for it telling him you tell your mother… NO I tell my child he does not tell me anything this should have been taken up with parent nothing should have ever been said to child …. embarrassing him in front of all us standing there teaching him to disrespect his mother … that is the problem this world now faces and seeing this only cemented my reluctance for my child to go there… another little girl came from her classroom with note from teacher saying she didn’t feel well this same woman refused note and told her to go back to her room
