I graduated sshs in 1977 I loved my experience there Ms.Hals was the best gymnastics teacher in the world, my ballet teacher and Ms. Rubinstein the best ever art teach ever who became a dear friend after graduation, my maiden name was Simpson. I will never forget my great H.S. years, dance, and learning with great expectations of success and the Arch Diner across the street. My daughter and I have had tea and icecream there many times. I was so excited about graduation from such a great school that when I picked up my diploma I walked all the way home to 108th St. Such a memorable happy day.I thank God for sshs. My great niece has since graduated from the new school and also had a great experience, we are both very successful.Thank you, and many regards to the wonderful caring teaching staff at this H.S. and Mrs.Arlington who was a very inspiring guidance counselor.
This was a beautiful school back in the day, and I’m talking talking late 70’s when my cousin would take me to school with her, only flaw, racial fights would break out and the white kids chased the black kids with baseball bats. ?? This particularly happened the day I went to visit there, to see if this was the school for me. NOT. ??????????????????????
Their are many different schools in this one building. A very large building. Aslo has a large auditorium. That auditorium is constantly used for graduations for it’s size. This school has a large field. Also a mini parking lot. This school is also surrounded by many stores that students can go to after school.
