I started working at Discovery Middle School this January. I cannot talk about any of the other schools simply because I’m not familiar with them.

The current administration, along with the teachers, cares for the school. It has been an uphill battle because most of our kids are underprivileged and, more than likely, do not have the academic and disciplinary foundations needed to succeed as they walk in to our school.

I saw a terrible review from an ex-contractor that got “let go”. I would say about 10% of his assessment is true. One teacher did leave the school on a stretcher but it was nothing school related. He had major health issues from before.

As far as a comment of the administration being biased… the administrative team is comprised of Hispanic, African American, Caucasian and Asian members and I have never heard any single racist remark and never seen a single discriminatory act. The hourly dance contractor (notice that he is not a teacher) that was let go is trying to use his race as a reason for him being let go. That’s utter nonsense.

My mom said that I will only be on campus for 2 days out of the week and the rest of the week I will do homeschool but I kind of really want to be on campus and the reason she said that I won’t be doing it for the full week is because schools keep like changing up one week they’ll be like oh yeah it’s safe to go to school again and another they be like oh you have to wear masks again now she said that until they stop mixing it up then I won’t be able to be in school for the full week
So please just don’t be confusing and decide
I have worked along side the Administrative and school-specific teaching teams for the Southwest Schools District for almost 5 years. The question that’s repeated during meetings and gatherings is “Is it in the best interest of the students?” People want to feel like they are working on the side of the team wearing the white hat. That’s exactly what I feel like as part of Southwest Schools.
