If you child had special needs, GO ELSEWHERE. Here’s our story:

My daughter started here in Kindergarten. It was a tough year of daily emails from her teacher describing telling me how my child had poor impulse control, poor behavior and was destructive. I was in the process of having her evaluated for autism, which we did confirm. We already knew she had epilepsy and sensory processing disorder, but these issues we’re not”not reason enough for evaluation”. My daughter LOVED school.

I spent the entirety of the year advocating for my daughter to no avail. The school resisted any interventions and continued to insist that my child was normal. The teacher made comments that she “noted files of certain parents with stickers, so other teachers knew to beware”. They recommended that I seek out help for my child outside of school, regardless of her problems in class. She finished the year below grade level.

I removed her from the school, homeschooled and managed to get her on grade level on my own! This was no easy task as I have zero teaching background. I CLOSED MY BUSINESS to do this and gave up so much for her. I realize we make sacrifices for our kids, but this was beyond anything I’d ever imagined. I blame the school.

My daughter returned for second grade with an IEP in hand. All of the sudden, my back was being patted for our progress and her disabilities were suddenly acknowledged. The kindergarten teacher who had made my life difficult was now patting me on the back. Second grade was much smoother and I rarely heard from that teacher. The year ended and again, my child was below grade level. We moved during that year, to another district.

I am saddened and amazed that my daughter has grown by leaps and bounds at her new school in district 8. They recognize her strengths and weaknesses. They communicate in a positive, effective and supportive manner. I cannot say the same for Springs Ranch. I would NOT recommend this school!

This is a great school. Now all the staff is nice the new principle I hear is awesome (Mr. Kinder) I love this place most teachers are nice as well. But a few years ago when they had the principal Kim Marriotti she was a completed jerk. She always stuck up for the girls and she was rude to the teachers too. She also said that I could go to jail for sitting on my water bottle because that’s sexual harassment when I was just being a dumb little kid. But now that’s she is going it’s a great school!
I remember going to this school two years ago. I went there from kindergarten to the fourth grade, and I loved the teacher and staff, friends, and the cafeteria food was the best I could get from any schools. I was surprised when I looked at the website and saw that all of my favorite teachers were still there. I miss this school, but the one thing I don’t miss is this; common core.
