This school has a great learning environment but this school is all about the money money. Some parents are so stuck up. The day care let me tell you for ea 15 mins you get charged an 1. there’s no P.E equipment, no AC in the rooms and pot holes that have been there since last yr WHAT DO U DO WITH THE MONEY YOU GET. I like the fact that classrooms are small a plus. through the hole entire school yr there’s, beside the normal tuition payment every month, there’s raffle tickets to sell, Walk n run, sell of candy and you must participate if not you owe that money to the school. There’s also a 25 hr participation or pay the school 250 additional that must be paid upfront before school starts. At the end of the yr the tuition ends up being more then what it should be. you pay for all supplies, uniforms, MUST BE PURCHASED AT ONE LOCATION ONLY no exemptions this way the school gets a % of what you purchase really come on.!!! Till today I don’t see where that money goes. You have to bake goods to donate to school and they sell it in return.I am seriously thinking of putting my kids into another school once this school yr is over.
My daughter has been at Saint Catherine since kindergarten and is now in the fifth grade. As parents of Catholic faith, we decided to enroll her here because of the experience we had at a public preschool in Lawndale. She was teased for not having brand-name shoes (we dislike wearing clothing or shoes with logos) and she was bullied constantly. We have met many families here at Saint Catherine and have become great friends with them. In an era when most of us don’t know our own neighbors, it’s comforting to have a group of families who would take care of your child like their own. After school Daycare has been a lifesaver for me many times. Both of us own a business and sometimes we’re late to pick up my daughter but we don’t need to rush or worry because we know she’s safe.
The mandatory volunteering should be seen as an opportunity. There are parents who use their talents as a form of volunteering. I get involved and volunteer at school because I want my daughter and her friends to do well. As a bonus, my own life is enriched.
We have two sons going to this school and our older son has just entered his 6th year here at Saint Catherine Laboure. The principal, vice principal, teachers, and staff are all incredibly passionate and committed to this school and to educating the students there. They are the heart and soul of the school. St. Catherine has an extremely diverse student body and group of families – culturally, ethnically, and economically. Students understand they are part of a greater community and they assist younger students throughout their years on this campus. The students respect and care for other students and adults which is sometimes lacking in many elementary and middle schools. And the faculty, parents, and students as a whole work together to enrich the school, the campus, and the entire community. The students don’t just get a good education here, they form a strong foundation of moral character and judgement that is priceless in the development of children.
