My son has been attending SJA for 3 years. What we really like about the school is the open communications between the teachers, staff, and parents. I always know what is going on in the classroom and volunteering in the class to see first-hand is encouraged. The school is very transparent about the curriculum as well as the standardized test scores and will show you where your child and the class are ahead or behind both against the national average and the diocese average. There is a strong focus on accelerated reading, STEAM, kindness and anti-bullying campaigns, as well as religion. The class sizes are 25 kids or less and all teachers have access to aides. The only “con” for some might be is it is a small school -only 2 classes per grade vs. the 4-5 the big public schools have, but for me that is a positive since the kids really all get to know each other and build lasting friendships year-to-year. I highly recommend!
I sent my son here against better judgement for kindergarten. The staff are all rude (especially the secretariat and clinic nurse) the principle and assistant principle are not much better, there is very poor communication. Hopefully if you are considering this school or another you choose the other, if you choose SJA I sincerely wish you the best of luck! I truly wish I would have listened to co-workers that warned me not to send my son there. Lesson learned, unfortunately at my son’s educational expense.
