Like other Catholic schools, the parents are involved as volunteers, and they are required to take Virtus training if working with the children. I’m really glad St. Lawrence goes from DK to 8th grade. My child has had a long and wonderful experience, with no complaints of bullying. There are traditions/structures in the school that made a child feel at home e.g. buddies and family groups. There was a great selection of summer camp/school activities. The high degree of parent involvement is work, but the result is a school experience that is extra wonderful/special. There are many opportunities for the parents to connect. If it’s your first year and you visit the church, don’t be surprised if your child knows more people than you do! The current principal (in 2017-?) represents the kind of principal I was looking for in a Catholic school – spiritual, prepared, loving, and reasonable.
St. Lawrence Martyr is an academically challenging school. The faculty and staff push the kids for academic excellence. The grading system also has a steeper curve, making the students achieve higher goals.
St. Lawrence has a wonderful sense of community. People come together to help each other. Whether it’s parents/staff coming together for an event, a fundraiser, or for the children, the community can rely on each other with any questions asked. Many thanks to St. Lawrence for the education they are giving my children, the faith they are instilling in them, and making them better citizens caring for others.
I’ve been blessed to be a part of the community at this school for 6 years now, with two children in various grades. I can honestly say, that I’m constantly surprised by the value of education they are receiving; academically and spiritually. The staff is talented, genuine and passionate. The families and children make the school a uniquely special environment as well. I’m very thankful to have my children being shaped by their wonderful experiences over the years at St. Lawrence Martyr.
