The owners of this Montessori lack professionalism. Our son, who just turned two and has only ever attended daycare 2 days/week, had a hard time adjusting to their program after only being there 1 month (he was only able to attend 4/8 scheduled days due to holiday and weather closure) . They were great in the fact that they worked with us and let him go full time for a week, then tapered down each week until we were back to our regular scheduled days. However, at his third week, we received a text message asking to pick him up 1/2 way through the day because he kept crying and didn’t want to nap. Later that evening, we received an email stating it was not working out. We never even got a phone call, or an in-person meeting to discuss the situation. Everything was text or email, which I feel is very unprofessional. We were not given any period of time to locate other care for him, resulting in me having to take 2 days off work since we didn’t have anything else lined up. The worst part was when I went to go get his stuff the next day, they had everything piled up by the door! Not even in bags, just chucked in the corner without even a word to me. My heart sunk at the position they left us in and the manner that it was done. I understand that there is a curriculum to follow and it’s not easy with an upset toddler. However, I do feel that the situation could have been dealt with in a more understanding, and professional manner than what we received.
I cannot say enough about Carri, Keith and everyone at St Louis Montessori. Both my kids have been with Carri since they were 6 weeks old. They are now 6 and 4 years old. As a full time working parent, Carri probably spent as much time raising my kids as me. I could not have picked a better person to share this responsibility with me. My kids are loving, smart, well adjusted children bc of Carri and St Louis Montessori. My daughter went to Kennard following her time at St Louis Montessori and she was wonderfully prepared and ready for all Kennard handed to her based on her time at St Louis Montessori. My son is a bit of a firecracker and communication about him and some of his behavior issues was great. They worked with me to handle and adjust to improve his time there. When he was upset or angry, they provided so much love and attention to him which he needs. We have since moved away from STL and had to find alternative daycare. I can say that nothing we have experienced remotely compares to the love, attention, and education we received while with Carri and St Louis Montessori.
I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for this school. Oh my gosh, I LOVE the teachers and staff. My eldest son is a late talker. We had him in speech therapy for almost a year before starting in the preschool room and he couldn’t/didn’t say more than a few words. They got him to talk AND SING! They met him where he was and helped him blossom. I can’t tell you what it’s like to wait years, literally, worrying that you will never hear your child speak and then with in a few months have him start singing and saying ‘I love you.’
He had a rough transition but they worked with him. Comforted him. Even loved on him to help him adjust. They were so great with our big boy that I begged them to take our youngest before he was born. I honestly can’t say enough about how much I love this school. They are like family. I’m already dreading my kids becoming school aged because we’ll have to leave this warm wonderful place. They offer dance, gymnastics, Spanish, and yoga in addition to a Montessori based curriculum. Great school, great staff, great place. ??
