Very expensive fees which you feel pressured to sign up to. This business model insists you pay over $1800 up front, or alternatively you must sign up for direct debit via your credit card $300 pm, AVOID this at all costs, the organisation clearly knows this loop hole and if your child decides to withdraw you cannot cancel future debits from your credit card (you can via you bank account direct debit) which made me question why they would do that other than to ensure you keep paying weeks after you withdraw. Absolutely NO empathy shown when your child is upset and wants to withdraw, stage school will keep charging you hundreds of dollars. Terrible business model. I paid around $1000 for around 5 hrs worth of ‘acting coaching’.
I have been attending YABC classes since 2016, and am now a member of the Triple Threats (the highest performing level). For the last 7 years it has been a highlight of my week coming to class, and I can confidently say that it has changed my life. Prior to joining Templestowe YABC I had no experience dancing and limited experience in singing and acting (only in primary school plays). My excellent singing teacher at Stage School inspired me to take up private singing lessons, which I have now been doing for 7 years. In my time with the company I have made lifelong friends and connected with people from all over Melbourne with similar skills and interests to me, a social experience that is rare and invaluable. Beyond this, the continued fostering of my skills in a fast-paced and professional environment has transformed me as a performer, as well as providing a window into what the industry looks like. This has inspired me to pursue a career in the arts.
Through YABC and Stage School I have met lifelong friends, made valuable industry connections and developed into a performer my younger self would be proud of.
My daughter has been attending YABC classes for the past four years and has loved every minute! She has developed immensely as a performer and her self-assurance when speaking to an audience is wonderful to see. The program has even given her the confidence to audition for national stage productions. She loves being a part of the YABC family and I am happy she has such wonderful young adult teachers as her role models.
