Poor Communication between Leadership and Parents.

This school leaves a bad taste in my mouth. My son who is in the first grade, his teacher took it upon herself to call Department of Human Services on me. Why? Because my child goes to school and ask his friends for some of their snack/lunch. Now, my child eats a big breakfast in the morning and takes lunch to school as well as snack. I only choose to hold back on snack for a while because I ONLY consider SNACK as a privilege. My child was acting up at home and at school and timeout wasn’t working but taking away snack upset him so I told him he’ll lose snack until his behavior improved so the defiant stage that he’s in he went to school and ask his friends for some of their food (junk food) and take food that didn’t belong to him. She the first grade teacher who I have communicated with and told her in detail what I was doing and why completely ignored what I said. This teacher Mrs. S got finger happy and called Department of Human Services for Absolutely no good reason, Oh, I guess her reason was neglect (me not feeding him). If she had called me or ask me any questions I would have been happy to explain or answer any questions. I’m so against and despise all and any form of abuse and for a teacher to just get finger happy and hurt the character of a parent is disgusting to me. Now as parents we teach our children what’s right and wrong, morality, integrity we do our best to make them a better person, now should our children disobey and do something different, what! You go call human services on the parent not knowing facts, not knowing if the child is lying being defiant or just don’t know how to explain themselves. I just don’t trust this school.

Couldnt ask for more. Diversity, Hospitality, Friendly.
We moved from another 10 star elementary school in Gwinnett and Starling Elem. is perfect. The teachers really care for the students, communication between parent and teacher is excellent. When there is an issue the teachers make sure to resolve the issue. Drop off and pick up is so smooth. Best of all, the front receptionist is ALWAYS FRIENDLY! At our previous school, I felt that the receptionist was always annoyed and hated her job. I am so glad we made the move to this new school district! I have a kinder and a 5th grader. Both classes and teachers are great! Mrs. Gilford and Mrs. Lowe.
