I have two children attending, a 2nd grader and 5th grader, both since Kindergarten. I don’t have other CO schools to compare to, but I think Stellar is great. I loved the previous principal – she seemed like a strong leader, organized, friendly. She knew each of the kids by name, and if the parents participated in school events – she knew who the parents were. (Which is a good security measure, too, to know which kids go with which parents.) I’ve always found the teachers and staff friendly and responsive to my questions and needs. The school seemed to run like a well-oiled machine. We have a new principal this year (2013) who seems very community-oriented as well. I know the district has implemented a bunch of changes for the school year, and there’s a lot of new staff (several moved with the previous principal to another school), so along with the new principal – we’re all adjusting to all the changes. I know the school’s staff is engaged and passionate about the children’s education – I’m glad my kids are zoned for Stellar.
I have a complaint from couple kids that go there not my own kids, say they been bully and have to hide under the stair at recess. Its sucks to hear it froms kids my daughter is 2 years old and have many friend daughter in school that been bullied. We have taken there kids to do karate. Overall we wouldnt want our kids to be bullied if anything but being a father myself and hearing it from kids that not good at all. I never been to this school or have kids that go here. School is a place where kids should feel safe not to feel bullied. Get to understand children not just your own but other. Many schools have bully prevention programs. Im sorry my review gives u a one star but it what i hear from kids im around. Best of luck to you on resolving issue.
My son’s teacher is horrible. She has no feelings for children at all. She is very rude every time we have talked to her. The principle is lazy and can’t do her job ever. Tired of this school and thank god its over for the year so we will be going to a different school if we can get in any where that is.
