My daughter attended the school from the age of 7. She was very well prepared for secondary school and loved every moment here. The teaching is excellent. I still think it’s amazing they have their very own science lab :). My son has attended since nursery (still a few more years to go) and he equally loves it, he wakes up excited to go to school every day. You can’t ask for more than that. Would definitely recommend to other parents looking for a warm and friendly school with traditional values.
I can’t recommend the school highly enough. Both my daughter and son have attended and the teachers excelled in their kind, considerate and thoughtful approach to education. A thoroughly well rounded establishment with exceptional level of teaching. Great pastoral care, really well thought out extra-curricular programme including sailing, PGL, music, drama, computing and the list goes on. We feel lucky to have such a great school on our doorstop that was able to support both our children’s individual needs in such a caring and careful manner. A traditional school in a beautiful building, supporting each and every child to realise their potential.
The parents are inconsiderate by parking on the double yellow lines. They could hit a cyclist with a door or a child could run out between two cars to then get hit as it makes the road become single lane and not two lane. The school is surrounded by proper parking spaces also further allong the road And on adjacent roads. The school itself is rather good but their parking situation is appaling. They do this every day And I find it really quite annoying.
This school sent me a CCJ even though I had paid my half of the fees. The invoices were all in my Daughters dads name, but as I had signed I was eventually liable. I work in financial services so I was worried about the back lash this could have on my house and job. I tried to have a conversation with Catherine Quinn the headmistress who said she would accept PS6100 instead of the PS6397 remaining…. she then slammed the phone down and demanded the full amount over email. I paid PS6100 giving her time to reconsider her initial offer… she refused to respond. All the time refusing to send me T’s and C’s and saying she had emailed me a response but the only ones I received were 1 lined statements of “I have”. They are completely unprofessional and obtuse. She even tried to dispute that she had sent the CCJ to the wrong address when it wasn’t even my address on the form. What disgusting and unprofessional behaviour. I paid and am now trying to finalise through the court – when I had tried diligently to pay and deal with matters amicably after being let down by my daughters father whom I divorced a number of years ago. The school only get a huge thumbs down for the way they have treated this matter. She wouldn’t even send me a receipt of finalised payment.
School is good pastorally with a sense of being together and supporting each other. Some lessons good. English, maths and science and PE thankfully the core. However, school BADLY let down by its adoption of technology holding back students, teachers and progress. The school needs to embrace the 21st century whilst still maintaining its traditions. It is possible if the somewhat myopic leadership would recognise this.
PS – Food is awful too.
