I can only speak from my personal experience.

The school got off to a rocky start but has since settled into a good learning environment.

Principal Woldemarian has the kids best interest at heart and is very responsive. We’ve met on several occasions to hash out issues and to discuss my child’s progress and what we can do as a school and parent team to support that progress. Her delivery last year was at times off putting but she has since found a much more compassionate approach.

There are opportunities for the children of the school to thrive. There is room for the teachers to grow but they seem to be heading in the right direction. Using discretion when it comes to discipline is an issue that still needs fine tuning. This seems to be a network wide issue though. Children fidgeting or dozing off are not things to be punished for but addressed. Those things point to deeper rooted problems both big and small.

My child is happy and doesn’t want to leave the school. I asked. He has learned how to advocate for himself and how to escalate
a situation in the right way if he needs to.

He is learning and seems to enjoy most of his classes on most days.

One draw back is that the recess yard is very small. I’m not sure how it compares to other schools but in my opinion it’s very small.

I’m at the point of no return with this school. This is by far the worst year I have experienced with Success Academy. The staff is very unprofessional and have no clue what talking back verses a kid explaining or expressing a problem or situation. The principal is inexperienced, always hides behind the scenes and doesn’t take charge. To be adults they talk down to the kids as if they are equal. Everything in this school is detention!!!!! A kid is disrupting other students in the class, the kids say to the kid can u stop and the teacher tells one kid that he has a deduction for talking so the kids tries to explain to the teacher that the kids is annoying him so the teacher says your talking back you have detention now. I’m over it!!!! I’m going to the media about everything that I’m experiencing this year. The worst every. I hope Eva Moskowitz recognizes how many kids that won’t be returning for the 2018/2019 year.
This would be zero stars but I cant put zero stars. I wish this school would be evicted from ever being one. Their policys dont make sence because if you talk down on yourself thats a consequence and they dont even try to cheer u up. I understand this is middle school but we have feelings and so do the teacher they cry to. I understand that we arent the best behaved kids but we have lifes. Also the math teacher just gives us work and barely teach us. A fellow classmate got suspended for 3 days for wearing a sweater. Dont think this is my last review ive got more.
