My children came to America speaking a different language, understanding a vastly different culture, and having experienced a vastly different school system. I wanted them to develop a love of learning and critical thinking skills to guide their future in academics. I wanted them to be safe and cared about. I wanted them to never lose their love of their first country or their culture. It was a great challenge for me finding the school that fit my high expectations and their needs. After visiting many schools, I heard about Sundrops Montessori and made a cold call. After about 2 minutes with Shannon Smith and observing and feeling the environment, I knew Sundrops was a good fit. Sundrops embraced my children’s culture and appreciated them for their background and what they had to offer their fellow students. Sundrops also challenged them to be the best they can be while fostering independence and the very critical thinking skills that are so important to all aspects of life. I have seen my children grow in language, academics, the arts, global understanding, and socially. My children are from an African culture where family is everything and they are now in a school where the environment feels like family and the classroom is a family. It’s an amazing match. Montessori has a great evidence base behind it and Sundrops implements Montessori methods in an environment of peace, caring, and expectations that everyone can contribute equally.
Sundrops is more than a school. Any business is made up of people. This school is made up of people that genuinely care about the kids they love and adore. They go above and beyond and try hard to make it a family.

Sundrops has been a blessing to my children more than words can explain. My daughter is five now and when she was only a couple of months old I put her in a local daycare (not montessori). As a first time mom, it was heart wrenching and she exhibited advanced language skills. At one year it was evident that she needed a school rather than a daycare. To our luck, Sundrops opened the Dunes West Campus around the time my daughter turned 18 months, and she THRIVED immediately.
She is now about to enter kindergarten there, 3.5 years later.
My second child had the blessing of joining their nido program at a couple of months old as well. Take it from a mom that put one kid in daycare as an infant, and one in montessori, and I can already tell you it makes a difference for the child’s entire life.
Thank you Sundrops!

My child has attended Sundrops for the last 5 years. He started in the nido classroom where as a developing infant he was allowed to be free to move on the floor and was not confined to infant containers (swings, cribs, bouncers). This set him up for great developmental success! The love and nurturing has made him a confident and excited learner. He has consistency in his teaching team as he moved from nido to wee casa to casa. The team of teachers are dedicated and we have not experienced any turn over in our years at Sundrops. We never have a day where he is not excited to go see his Sundrops family. Maria Montessori would be proud of the team at Sundrops Montessori for the foundation for learning they have created!
